Elianor Mifflin buried at the ould Grave Yard Owen Roberts, 11 Mo. 4, 1716-17. She was the wife of John Mifflin, Senior, of Blockley. The will of John Mifflin Senior, was proved in Phila. Sept. 20, 1716. He mentions his wife Elenor. His daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, wife of John Mifflin, Jr. Trustees, John Roberts of Merion, Malster; William Lorance, Philadelphia. John Mifflin early located in the "Northern Liberties" (1684), that tract of land north of Vine Street (the northern boundary of the old City of Philadelphia) and east of the Schuylkill River. The greater part of his property is now included in East Fairmount Park. His dwelling house stood about a mile and a half above "Faire Mount", and Springettsbury Manor. There was also a Jonathan Mifflin, who lived a mile and and a half above Fairmount. John Mifflin was a "First Purchaser". John Mifflin and Elizabeth Hardy were married 2 Mo. 1, 1684. The name of John Mifflin is on Reed's Map. This Map was published in 1774, but it was intended to show the location of the "First Purchasers". John Mifflin settled east of the Schuylkill. John Mifflin, Sr. and John Mifflin, Jr. father and son, came from Warminster, Wiltshire, England, prior to 1679. They were in Burlington, N. J. on June 20 th of that year. On 8th Mo. 13, 1680, each of them was granted 10 acres on the Delaware, by Governor Andros. They located east of the Schuylkill. The homestead was at "Fountain Green" in the East Park. The property remained in the family until 1806. John Mifflin, Jr., "Immigrant", married, 2 Mo. 1, 1683-4, at the house of Henry Lewis, near Philadelphia, Elizabeth Hardy, from Derbyshire, England. There were 9 children: Edward, George, Jane, John, Elizabeth, Patience, Samuel, Jonathan (1), Jonathan (2) all born at Fountain Green. Of these children, George (b. 1688 - d. 4 Mo. 13, 1758), m. 11 Mo. 29, 1713-14, Esther Cordery, daughter of Hugh and Deborah Cordery. Had 6 children, of whom John, the eldest was the "Councillor", born 1715. The marriage of George Mifflin and Esther Cordery is recorded at the Philadelphia Meeting of Friends, 11 Mo. 29, 1713.
