There was a John REES of Red Clay Creek Hundred in 1720 New Castle cnty, DE and innholder of 1723 city of New Castle I am trying to find further information on, most specifically the name of his wife. I believe he may have md: Anne EYRE, grnddtr of Francis SMITH of Chester cnty, PA, but REES is such a difficult name to research. The SMITHs and EYREs were COE at this point in time but there were some who became Quakers and they were on very good terms w/their Quaker neighbors so I can't rule out that John REES was a Quaker. John REES did have some close business dealings w/William VANDEVERE and with Samuel KIRK. I did find one will or land record that listed both a John REESE and an Anne REESE as witnesses but there were other witnesses as well so that doesn't necessarily indicate a relationship between the two. Any help will be appreciated as this is all the info I have on John REES.
