    1. Lawn Croft Cemetery
    2. Hi one & all, The following article was just in Delaware County Daily Times on 15 Apr 2004 -- it is referring to the founding of Lawn Croft Cemetery: Others Times 100 TEARS AGO -- 1904 The inner-city cemetery is now an assured fact as the property lying partly in the State of Delaware, a few miles south of Chester, has been purchased and will be converted into a place of burial. The ground taken is on the Ridge Road and includes the SPEIRS & ARMSTRONG farms. The ground is located along the Wilmington Division of the Chester Traction Co. It is high and commands a splendid view of the Delaware River and is many ways is (sic) suited to the purpose of sepulchre (sic). Officers of the group buying the ground are J. Newlin GOTHRUP, president; I. H. RYAN, first vice president; E. F. WHITE, second vice president; Horace G. KNOWLES, esq., secretary; and Samuel N. TRUMP, treasurer. My NOTE: In 1904 the newspaper was "The Chester Times." Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
