I realized this is some years later, but here is a list of many businesses that were on Market Street in 1961. Maybe there will be something familiar here or the business was still carrying on in 1961. Note 617-629 was a department store "Kennards" this is one of the surnames you stated were married into the family (Ruth to Edward Kennard) Not sure if there would be a connection there to your family.
