    1. Bristow wife -- origins unidentified. HELP!
    2. Dorothy and Kathy (who have been discussing Bristow, Carter and other Bristow connections on the Carter list) and other BRISTOW, McCULLOUGH, and CARTER researchers, I know it's a long shot, but it never hurts to ask!! I have a McCullough/Bristow marriage in my family tree, but have never been able to learn anything else about the Bristow. ANDREW JACKSON McCULLOUGH (sometimes called Andrew, sometimes Jackson, and maybe A.J. as per various records) who was born on Feb. 25, 1840, son of OLIVER McCULLOUGH and ELIZABETH (perhaps maiden name was LEADER) married ELIZABETH BRISTOW on March 03, 1852, in Cecil Co., MD. Many of the Cecil Co. residents of that time were former Chester Co. and Delaware Co., PA, residents (e.g., several of my Carter lines and perhaps Andrew's father, Oliver McCullough. (Census reports say Oliver was born in PA, but so far I have not located where. Oliver and brother Jethro (who was born in DE near both the PA and MD borders) moved to Cecil Co. about 1840-1850. The CARTERs and McCULLOUGHs were certainly acquainted with each other as per data found in wills, newspaper articles, etc. They also have more than one example where they married into the same families, e.g., TULL, CARTER, CLOUD, and maybe BRISTOW. [In a mini-Twilight Zone event, four generations after OLIVER McCULLOUGH's generation, my grandparents who certainly did not know they both descended from the same CLOUD line (off Wm. CLOUD, Chester, Co., PA) married each other -- having no idea that they were, in fact, fifth cousins, once removed! Perhaps MABEL MARION McCULLOUGH and CHARLES GEORGE CARTER were 'destined' to be together to rejoin their ancesters.... oo-oo-oo-oo (Twilight Zone music, please!). So even when the families left their commonly shared lands, maybe there was some sort of spooky FATE thing going on that brought the families back together again!] SO, TO THE REAL QUESTIONS NEEDING ANSWERED: Did the Bristows of Elizabeth's line begin in PA and move to MD, too? Did Andrew Jackson McCullough wander back into PA where he was born (like his father) to garner himself a wife? Did Elizabeth have a family or was she just found under a cabbage head? For anyone interested, here is a little on their children. ANDREW JACKSON McCULLOUGH and ELIZABETH BRISTOW had three children that I've been able to identify: (1) ANDREW J. McCULLOUGH who was, according to his tombstone, was the son of ANDREW J. and ELIZABETH McCULLOUGH and was, when he died, 38 years and 10 months old. Unfortunately, the tombstone is worn and his death date is illegible so I know neither his death or birth date. He is buried in the North East United Methodist Cemetery in North East, Cecil Co., MD. (2) EUGENIA McCULLOUGH was born in March 1859 (perhaps March 11, 1859). According to her tombstone inscription, she died on June 11, 1859, at the age of 3 months (no day number listed). (3) RUDOLPH McCULLOUGH was born in March 1859. According to his tombstone inscription, he died on October 31, 1860. Like their brother, EUGENIA and RUDOLPH, are buried in the North East United Methodist Cemetery. The plot is listed as purchased by J.J. McCOLLOUGH (sic) who was the brother of OLIVER McCULLOUGH (the father of ANDREW JACKSON McCULLOUGH, grandfather of the twins). The common stone for both children states they are the children of AND'W and ELIZABETH McCULLOUGH. Do any of you BRISTOW (or McCULLOUGH!) researchers recognize this couple? (I can only hope!)
