    3. So close, and yet, so far... All four of your names (Marshall, Williamson, French and Pitman) match names in my ancestry (a total of eight times!). Unfortunately, I'm unable to offer anything useful other than the reassurance, if you are unfamiliar with Quaker genealogy, that some well-researched motherlodes of information await you if you can only get back two or three more generations. Since all of those surnames are prominent in the earlier Quaker families of the area, I'd suggest that you re-post your question to the always helpful Rootsweb Quaker-Roots list. Perhaps someone there with more information on collateral lines than I will be able to help. Most tantalizing of our near misses is your Williamson line which has long been one of my nagging deadends. An Alice Williamson and her husband, James Ogram, both born in England, were my 6g-grandparents. They are said to have immigrated to Delaware in 1840. Alice would have been about the right age to have been a sister of your William P. Williamson. One source I've been needing to track down which *may* shed further light on this line is: Cope, Gilbert (1840-1928). "Genealogy of the Smedley Family, Descended from George and Sarah Smedley, Settlers in Chester County, Pennsylvania, with Brief Notices of other Families of the name, and abstracts of early English Wills," Lancaster, PA: Wickersham Printing Co., 1901., pp. 59 [etc.?]. It's available at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (Fa 929.2 S6373c), Swarthmore, Haverford, and probably elsewhere. If you have an opportunity to check a copy before I do, I'd be interested. Do you have any further information about any of the individuals you mention, particularly names of their siblings? If so and if there's a match with my lines, I'd be happy to help further. I notice that you also have "Robinson" in your Surnames list; is this also a New Castle County line?? If so, I'd be very interested to explore how it might be related to the line of my William Heywood Robinson (b. 1818) and his daughter, Frances Robinson (b. 1841(3?)), who immigrated to Delaware from England in 1844. If there is a match, I have some original source material which would be *very* interesting. Well, Hello. My name is Pamela. I'm researching my Marshall line. Edwin Pitman Williamson Marshall (a mouthful) is my great grandfather, he was born September 12, 1879 in Wilmington Delaware, to William E. Marshall born 1855 in Delaware and Mary Emma Williamson born 1851 in Delaware. In 1900 Edwin was a Coxwain in the navy and served on the USS Yankton. In 1910 he served on the USS South Carolina. We believe that Edwin's Grandparents were William Marshall born 1820 in Delaware and Anne E. (maiden name unknown) born 1828 in England and maternal grandparents William P. Williamson born Abt. 1825 in Delaware and Mary Jane French born Abt. 1822 in Delaware. I have lost track of him after 1910. I am hoping that one of these names will ring a bell for someone and help me break a wall. Pamela Wright Bucks County, PA.
