    1. Overveiw of the English & Irish (1600 only) Chester Co., PA area.
    2. Hi List, I would like to have an overview of the English & Irish that came to the Chester Co. area in the 1600 & where they were born. I need your help on this. If you are interested in participating please e-mail me directly at: HMWEBBER@aol.com I would need to know the year or approx. year they arrived, their full name, their date or approx. date of birth & the "place" where they were born & the ship they arrived on if known. I have to have the "place" in England or Ireland -- not just England or Ireland. Example: Arrived: Name: Date: Place of Birth: abt. 1683 Robert SOUTHERY c1645 Westbury, Wiltshire, England Ship: (if known) Everyone will receive a copy of this survey. Please DO NOT send me any genealogy info just the info on the immigrant! I hope this overview might give us some new clues & connection from whence our ancestors came. :D Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

    3. I am trying to locate Lucien G. Maury who lives in Wilmington, DE but has an unlisted phone number. If he is the Lucien G. Maury I am searching for, he is about 80 years old and went to high school with my father in Union, MS. He stopped in Union, MS in the 90's, leaving his address with now deceased Rex Gordon, who lost the address. My father would like to make contact with him again. Can anyone in Wilmington help? 1. Re: [NewCastle] Nottingham area Presbyterians into Philadelphia
    2. I would love to hear from anyone about 2nd Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. I have a marriage certificate for David Caldwell and Julia Woolson on 3 Dec 1828, pastor Wm Ramsey in 2nd Presbytarian Church, Southwark Pa. I finally found Southwark in Philadelphia but that is where my info comes to a dead end. I have family Bible entries of this couple who is my GGGrandparents. They appeared in the Delaware census in 1850 and in Indiana census from 1860 on. Am desperately looking for anything to find names of his parents and back. This is my brickwall

    1. Nottingham area Presbyterians into Philadelphia
    2. Would have prefered the 'New Style" religion of the 2nd Presbyterian Church to the "Old Style" of Philadelphia's 1st Presbyterian church. I think. Rev Samuel Finley,'New Style" President of Princeton, and formerly, with his brother,James, and nephew,Rev John Evans Finley, ministers at the Nottingham churches, died on a Philadelphia visit, and was buried beneath the floor of the 2nd Presbyterian. James and Samuel toured with George Whitefield,in 1741. I read that Whitefield had such a booming voice, that he could be preaching a couple blocks from the Delaware River,in Philadelphia, and that he could be heard across the Delaware,in NJ.

    1. Lawn Croft Cemetery
    2. Hi one & all, The following article was just in Delaware County Daily Times on 15 Apr 2004 -- it is referring to the founding of Lawn Croft Cemetery: Others Times 100 TEARS AGO -- 1904 The inner-city cemetery is now an assured fact as the property lying partly in the State of Delaware, a few miles south of Chester, has been purchased and will be converted into a place of burial. The ground taken is on the Ridge Road and includes the SPEIRS & ARMSTRONG farms. The ground is located along the Wilmington Division of the Chester Traction Co. It is high and commands a splendid view of the Delaware River and is many ways is (sic) suited to the purpose of sepulchre (sic). Officers of the group buying the ground are J. Newlin GOTHRUP, president; I. H. RYAN, first vice president; E. F. WHITE, second vice president; Horace G. KNOWLES, esq., secretary; and Samuel N. TRUMP, treasurer. My NOTE: In 1904 the newspaper was "The Chester Times." Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

    2. Do you have any information on Edward and Eliza Roche, Abraham and Elizabeth Ford, or James and Ann Conaway? Edward and Eliza Roche lived in Wilmington from 1781 to 1821. Abraham and Elizabeth Ford were members of the Wilmington Meeting. She died in 1797 and he died in 1832. James and Ann Conaway were married in Old Swedes in 1804. He died between 1840 and 1860.
