Although other information and pictures are. Delaware Public Archives http://www.state.de.us/sos/dpa/ JoEllen (Michigan) Here is the mailing address. Im not sure if there is a cost for them to do a search. Im not sure what kinds of searches they are able to do at cost or for free. I do know there are fees for copies. If you are there and copy them yourself it is 25cents if they do it, it is either 50 cents or 75 cents. Cant remember. I usually do my own copies. Karen Carter,(Minneapolis) Your McCullough family isnt part of Senator Calvin McCULLOUGH's family is it? He was from around here near me. Went to my church, my wedding, has school named after him ( my old High school is now an elementary school named after him). I might be able to get you some information if it is. His was was Charlotte POTE (I think on the last name. Would have to make sure. I live in New Castle, 20 minutes from Wilmington, 1 hr from Dover. When my knee is healed, Im going searching again. 2. Irene Rutter
3. In the spring of 2000, I spent time at the Delaware Historical Society on Market Street in Wilmington, DE. I copied all data pertaining to the surname Rutter from the Wilmington Directories. The earliest entries I show are from the year 1857 and from that date on, there were entries almost every year. My notes also indicate that I checked directories for the years 1814 and 1853. As I recall, prior to 1857, there were several books which were done on a one-time basis but were not part of a series as the later ones were. The most recent notes I have are from 1950. The family still lived in Wilmington at that time so I'm assuming that was the end of the series. Information given was: Full name of head of household, occupation of head of household, employer of head of household, and home address. Sample entry: William J. Rutter, car builder, P.W.& B.R.R., h. 1315 King Street. Occasionally, the name of the wife was also given. Also, if the person was a boarder at that street address, he was indicated as such.

1. Wilmington City Directories exist at least as early as 1869
2. The Wilmington Directories definitely were published before 1900. I visited the Delaware Historical Society several years ago and obtained information on my McCullough family from them. The earliest one I used was 1869. There may have been earlier ones. Sorry, I don't have access to them. Karen Carter Minneapolis

3. REES/REESE is such a common surname amongst the early Welsh in the area, and John and Ann/Anne such common given names, plus no assurance this John and Ann REES were necessarily husband and wife, or even "closely" related .... Add to that the then still somewhat common "surname" change amongst the Welsh via the use of ap to indicate "son of" .... I'm looking for a John REES/REESE who "probably" lived during the period 1680-1750 who was the brother-in-law of and Exec of the estate of Baldwin JOHNSON, "probable" husband of Ann/Anne EYRE, an innholder and "possible business partner" of William VANDEVERE.

1. William Curtis Morgan letters
2. Letters of William Curtis Morgan 23rd Indian Volunteers http://www.bitsofblueandgray.com/morgan.htm These letters were originally posted on the CIVIL-WAR maillis by Mr. Don Coatney. I am so very grateful to him for allowing me to share them with you on the Bits of Blue and Gray website. The letters of the Civil War are, to me, the most interesting facet of that time period. They give us first hand insight to their feelings and the war. As with other letters I have included on the site, the letters have been kept just as they were written, with no spelling or grammatical corrections.
