    1. Re: Orphan's Court records lookup
    2. You have to do a search for the index. Go to the archives site, using the aforementioned url; on the first screen hit "collections"; when that screen comes up, scroll down to "online guide to collections and hit that link; when that screen comes up, scroll down to "Search" and fill in the name you are interested in. If you have a problem, I will do it for you if you give me the name. You can then email the archives, giving them the name, county and date of probate and they will give you a price quote for the records. You can then send them a check for that amount and they will send you the records. The whole process will probably take less than two weeks. They are very efficient. Best wishes, Joy, Napa, CA

    3. Hi Joy, Thanks for the reply. However, I didn't get any 'hits'. I am looking for John Welsh/Welch (the father who died), George Welsh (the one year old son) or the wife Margaret Welsh. This would have been in 1815 and I don't think the early index is on line. I hope I am wrong. John [email protected] wrote: >You have to do a search for the index. 3. Delaware Public Archives. http://www.state.de.us/sos/dpa/ go to collections, then online guide to the collections, then enter a search word as orphans court records, then see the results. Having used them, they are indexed by County, and user friendly. Also LDS has microfilmed early ones -for NCCO Orphans' Court records for New Castle County, Delaware, 1742-1853; index to Orphans' court records,1742-1868 There are other choices to select from at http://www.familysearch.org Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: "John & Loretta Welsh" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, July 22, 2002 11:21 PM Subject: Orphan's Court records lookup > Hi List, > > Does anyone know where Orphan's Court Records for New Castle Co., might > be found. 3. Hi Nancy, Thanks for the reply. I want to make sure I have done this right. I checked the web site and it indicates that an Orphans Court record index is available for the period 1846-1959. Looks like this index is not on line but can be searched at the Archives. Does that all sound correct? I also appears that records exist for an earlier period that are not indexed but are available for researches. Is this correct? I am asking these questions because I am trying to get to DE in Oct. for some research. I am headed down to my local LDS to order the film. Thanks again, John Nancy M.
