If they emigrated in 1863 then Philomene was not likely born in CAN, though it is possible they went back for her birth. However, with the 1900 census requiring specific dates of birth, I tend to rely on it a bit more. One way or another, they were married about 1867-1868, either in MI or CAN and were very likely Catholic. I was unable to find them in the 1870 USA census. When you do, that may help clear up where the oldest child was born. One way or another, you will at some point need to work with the 1861 Quebec census and, unless you can pinpoint a location, that will be a lot of reels of microfilm to review! In the meantime, you may want to post a query to the Quebec-Research-L to see if anyone can locate the marriage and parents. Regards, Sharyn
