Surnames: DEMERCE, DEMERS, ELLIS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JBS.2ACEB/307.1.2 Message Board Post: I am searching for my Great Grandmother Rosa/Rose DEMERCE/DEMERS (born in Negaunee, Marquette, Michigan about 1882 - died in Hibbing, St. Louis county Minnesota on 6/14/1930), she married Charles ELLIS (born Negaunee, Marquette, Michigan 1977 - died Hibbing, St. Louis county, Minnesota 1/4/1935). The Rose/Rosa you show in the census is too old for the one I think I am looking for, unless she lied (a lot) about her age, but I am very interested in any other information you have on this family line. I suspect, but haven't proven yet, that her father was Julius DeMerce b. 1845 in Canada (in Negaunee for the 1870 census with his wife Margaret, and sons George, Julius and Ceasar/Ceaser). Negaunee wasn't that large of a city and the similarity of names is very interesting. Is the family I am looking for part of the one you also are looking for?
