    1. [DEMERS] 1927 photograph of Juliette Demers and adult woman, 1927
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: evvybuns Surnames: Demers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.demers/563/mb.ashx Message Board Post: While shopping a flea market today, I came across a portrait of a young teenage girl with an adult woman. This was a posed picture and not a candid shot. I can't remember precisely what was written on the back, but it identified the girl as 13 years old with a date of July, 1927. I'm pretty sure it was 1927--the last digit was a little hard to read. The location was Sandpoint, Idaho. I've come census records which would indicate that a Juliette Demers, born around 1914, was the adopted daughter of Joseph and Madeline Demers. The person selling it is asking $3. If someone would like for me to facilitate acquiring this photograph, please contact me. I could probably get a picture of it to send using my cell phone. I think it's so sad when pictures get away from a family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I show a Mary Susan Duhaime was their daughter. I also show: Joseph Armand Duhaime married a Rita Demers or Diana Demers in Sherbrooke Quebec but I have no further information. I show a Robert Duhaime was born of this marriage. I'm fairly certain this is the same Joseph Armand Duhaime who died 25 May 1967 in Bridgeport Ct. I am researching a Demers line from Ste-Genevieve, Quebec. The last marriage I have found in the Drouin is: Jean Baptiste Demers and Marianne Romure, in St-Vincent-de-Paul, Laval, Quebec 11 January 1860. J-B Demers' parents are listed as Jean Baptiste Demers and Marie Louise Beausejour (some ancestry trees have her listed as "Sancour"). But I cannot find their marriage. Author: ShariStrahan51 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.demers/555.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: First of all, this is the Demers board. How does Rita fit into the Demers? (I also have a main Deneault line, so that's why I thought I might be able to help...) If it was in error, you might want to repost to the DAIGNEAULT board if there is one, or DENAULT - they are pronounced the same, although usually different families. I did look into Ste-Cunégonde (Montreal) registers - there were no adoptions listed in them. It was interesting, though, because in one of the registers, and I forget which one now, in Quebec I looked at for you, there were a few adoptions listed in the back of the volume. They did not name the child, but gave a baptismal date. Those were in 1934, and the kids had been born in 1929, 1930, 1928.... I'd never seen that before, so I learned something new today! There is probably a good chance your mother wasn't given a correct birthdate.... but I'd be willing to look again with whatever you have, and see if I can find a Rita (or Marguerita, etc.) born about that time. You are welcome to email me directly if you want to protect her personal information. Click on my name and that will give you my address.
