Any connection? My ggrandmother was Grace Lambert deMers, born in MN and then went out to Montana where she married Alexander. Her father was Judge Lambert, originally from St. Paul, MN.

    2. Kristin
    3. Hi listers, I have been searching for sometime now for the marriage of a Marie Demers in Ogdensburg, St Lawrence Co NY. Marie or Mary as she was called by my Garrow family was born of Paul Demers and Delphine Gareau/Garrow in Ogdensburg NY 1871. I know she had children, but have yet been unable to find a married name for her nor is she listed anywhere for a marriage in Notre Dame where she was baptized. I am trying to connect to this family because she was raised with my gr grandfather Joseph Gareau/Grow in Ogdensburg and had hoped to find someone still around in Ogdensburg that may have known my Gareau family. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/an/JBS.2ACEB/262.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello Terri - I too have Demers ancestors. My great grandmother - Sarah LaBrie is the daughter of John LaBrie & Perpeture Demers. Like your ancestors, they were also born in Quebec, Canada. I have heard rumors there is Native blood in the LaBrie & Demers line - possibly Mic-Mac - but I have found nothing to prove or disprove this. I checked the Nora Cemetery site (in Rice Lake) to see if Isadore Demers might be buried there but could not find his name. It is quite possible he is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery or Dobie Cemetery (Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Doby). I'm afraid I have found no link to either of these 2 cemeteries that lists those buried there. I know Perpeture Demers parents are Magloire Demers & Charlotte Couture - but I have never found any of her siblings names. Magloire Demers parents are Joseph Marie Demers & Marguerite Demers ( 2nd or 3rd cousins). Again - I have found no other siblings. Do you know when Isadore came to Rice Lake? Do you know who his parents were? I can check the 1880 census to see if there are any Demers listed. I wish I could be more help to you - if I do find anything I will certainly pass it on to you. You can e-mail me at llj1s@yahoo.com. Best of luck in your search - Laura L. Jones

Surnames: Demers, Bertrand, Gelinas, Grenier Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JBS.2ACEB/261.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Is this your Arthur Delisle? Arthur Joseph Delisle, b. 3 Sep 1901, NH; d. 29 Mar 1981, San Bernardino, CA; SSN 002-05-4044; mother's maiden name Deners (CA Death Index) SSDI shows birth date as 3 Sep 1900 and last residence as Rialto, San Bernardino, CA 92376 My conclusion form this is that Arthur's Social Security Application and death record will answer one of your questions, and that he is the son of a Demers female and a Delisle male. I found your online tree at Ancestry.com, which makes me think this other tree is also your Mary: 1. Joseph DEMERS was born +- 1860. He married Anne BERTRAND. She was born +- 1865. Child of Joseph DEMERS and Anne BERTRAND is: 2 i. Marie-Mary DEMERS was born +- 1890. She married William GELINAS 6 FEB 1920 in St-Joseph-de-Manchester, NH, USA, son of Charles GELINAS and Eleonore GRENIER. He was born +- 1890. In addition there are two other online trees worth checking out. I also find in the SSDI a William Gelinas b. 18 Dec 1884, d. Sep 1970, last residence Concord, Merrimac, NH 03301, SSN 003-01-8049. As you know from the 1920 census, William was born in Canada, emigrated in 1898, was French-speaking, and was not naturalized. They were married in 1920 (according to you) but had two children, ages 1 and 5 mos., in the 1920 census. According to the 1930 census they had been married 11 years, their oldest child was 11, William emigrated in 1895, and he was not yet naturalized. Mary's marriage record and birth record should answer most of the other questions. It would also be a good idea to contact the poster of the Ancestry trees, if you haven't already. In addition, it would be worth finding William's naturalization record (if there is one) to see if there is any info about his wife. Happy hunting, Sharyn
