In 1880 he came to North Dakota with his parents, Exevier Demers, his father and family homesteaded north of Oakwood. At 17 he went to work in the woods in northern Minnesota. During the winter of 1891 his father died. In the spring of that year he started farming. When his youngest brother became of age the estate was settled. He bought the land and started farming on hs own. On Oct 12, 1892, he was married to Albina Primeau. She also came from Canada, To this union was born 14 children, 11 are still living: Alvina, Emma, Frederick, Clara, Albert, Aurore (deceased), Dan, Wilfred, Ovila (deceased), Arbella, Edward, Simeon, Edmond, and Victor (deceased). Daniel died Dec 21, 1969 at age 95 and Albina died April 9, 1973 at age 94. They were married 77 years as of Oct 12, 1969. listed on pg 229-230, Vol 1, Walsh Heritage, 1881-1981

Her death certificate lists her father as Julien Dupuis and her mother as Catherine (unknown) both born in Canada. I have located a Catherine Demers in the 1880 federal census in Lincoln, RI. She is listed as the head of household with Mary Dupuis (dau) 24, Joseph Dupuis (son) 23, Sophronia (dau) 22, Julia (dau) 20, Napolean (son) 18, and Louis Menor (gson) 2. I believe this may be my family as my grandfather, George Dupuis (son of Mary) was born out of wedlock and that Mary never married. I do not know what part of Canada they were from. If anyone has any information on this family, I would be very appreciative.
