    3. Mike, Thanks for writing, I wondered if you were still on the List. My Rebecca, I have learned, was borned a DeLoach, she married Craven Sawyer and they had three or more children & he died before 1830 as she was in Crawford Co Ga at that time, according to census and without Craven. John R.'s wife Elizabeth died soon after their son William W. DeLoach was born, so John R. married Rebecca DeLoach Sawyer and made her name, once again DeLoach. Rebecca was born 1804 in Edgefield District, SC. So, therefore I am looking for her parents who were in Edgefield District in 1804, and when I found a David DeLoach with a wife named Rebecca, also lived in Edgefield CO in that time frame, I hoped someone on the List would have a bit of info on David & Rebecca DeLoach's family. Wanda > >> Rebecca "Unknown" in 1784 in Edgefield County, South Carolina?? >> >> >>Wanda, > > Rebecca is certainly associated with DeLoach and handed down many > generations. 3. Hello Listers, Greeting from Central California!. I am wondering if there is someone on the List who is connected to, or have information on a David DeLoach, son of William & Judith Wall DeLoach, who married Rebecca "Unknown" in 1784 in Edgefield County, South Carolina?? I am still searching for info on my gggrandmother Rebecca DeLoach Sawyer who , after her Sawyer husband died, married John R. DeLoach in Crawford County, Georgia. I am thinking, "perhaps" David & Rebecca DeLoach may have been the parents on my Rebecca DeLoach Sawyer DeLoach as David's wife, was a Rebecca and they lived in Edgefield Co, where my Rebecca was born in 1804. David's wife Rebecca died at about 40 yrs of age in 1807. This is the only couple I have located that maybe "could" be my Rebecca's parents. I do hope someone will have some data for me. Thanks Wanda

    3. Hi Gail. I was born in Inverness, Miss 3 Jan 1928. My grandfather was Henry Covington Middleton De Loach. I understand he was a Doctor in Carollton, Miss. He died before I was born. There is a coat of arms registered in the French Armory. Which was recorded in the 16th Centery, which I understand no more were recorded after that Centery. I would be a lot of money to have it searched and gotten a copy of. But there is one, also one registered in England. When the De Loach clan fled France, they settled in England. There again it is expensive to have a search of the records. My family as far as I can find out came to the New World in early 1700s. The recordings were in a family Bible kept by my grandmother, when she died it sort disappeared. No body knows where it went or who has it. But I do know that it had all the family history in it from France on until they all settled in Miss. I hope this helps a little. I can say this for sure. That the De Loach family in France was Royalty, and had to flee in the face of the revolution to save their lives. They fled north and mingled withe the Hauganauts who fled to England. There is a lot of History concerning the De Loach Clan. Try the data base in Salt Lake City, Utah maintained my the Mormans. I haven't tried them yet. Might be fun to try and see what they have in their data base on the family. Good luck and hape to hear from you again. George. PS my full name is George Preston De Loach

I am looking for information about a DeLoach coat of arms (COA) that I own and would deeply appreciate it if anyone that has any data on it would write back to me. I have read the postings on COAs and bearing them and wish to thank Mike for his clarity on the subject. I have been thinking of having a crest ring made and was confused about the subject. I imagine that there might be many DeLoach COAs around as Judge Harry R. DeLoach's book, of which I own a copy, shows 2 (English and French) on pages 2 and 4 respectively, and Mr. Steadman's book shows a French version. I own a tapestry and small painting of my COA which I have scanned and attached to this message. I grew up in Spartanburg SC and the painting hung on the wall in our den for many years and was passed down to me from my father (Laurence (Larry) Asbury DeLoach), along with the tapestry. I remember my father telling me that the tapestry hung in his family home in Savannah, GA until it began to deteriorate and then his father (Dr. Luther Asbury DeLoach) had the painting done. According to Judge Harry's book, my line of descent is: Michael DeLoach/William DeLoach/William DeLoach, Jr./Hardy DeLoach/Ephraim DeLoach/Joseph DeLoach/Asa W. DeLoach/Luther Asbury DeLoach/Laurence Asbury DeLoach/Laurence Asbury DeLoach, Jr. (me). Does anyone have more information on my COA, or DeLoach COAs in general? I reside in Orlando, FL at 4332 Meadowood St., 32812; phone 407-857-2113. Thank you, Larry

    2. I always thought they were one and the same. Isn't Deloach an Anglicization of Des loges? About thirty years ago My Uncle, Charles Deloach Ashmore, named after Wm. Henderson Deloach, his great Uncle, visited a country town in France, the name of which he pronounced "Lush" - I don't know the spelling, but I believe it is the same place pictured on page 5 of Judge Harry Deloach's Book on Deloach History. He said the people there were incredibly friendly for Frenchmen. The reminded him of Claxton folks speaking French. 3. DeLoach Listers, Here is a copy of a message I sent to the Sawyer Mail List, trying to locate information on the Sawyer ladies who married John R. DeLoach. I have been under the impression all these years that the two ladies, Elizabeth & Rebecca Sawyers were sisters and new information has me now thinking otherwise. Please read the below and see if you can help me sort this out. From what information I have recently found and information from others, I am inclined to believe Rebecca Sawyer b.1805 in Edgefield Co, S.C. was married to Craven Sawyer son of Lewis Sawyer. He died at an early age and left her with three children, Edna b. 1820, Wilson b. 1824 and John b. 1826. They were living in Crawford county , GA in 1830 census and she was living next door/house to Lewis, I think. Rebecca's maiden name, I know believe was DELOACH, I have not found her parents. If anyone knows, please let me know. John R. DeLoach, born 1804 in Edgefield County, SC , son of William DeLoach married first to Elizabeth Sawyer b. 1805 in Edgefield County, SC ( parents unknown). They married Dec 15, 1823, I understand. They moved to Crawford County,GA and were living there in 1826 when they joined a church there. They had a daughter Elvira in 1827, and then a son William Winfield DeLoach about 1832 in Crawford Co. Elizabeth died soon after his birth, John R.DeLoach then married Rebecca DeLoach Sawyer Dec 1834. their son Floyd Washington DeLoach was born Aug 1835 Crawford County, GA. Floyd W.was my great grand father and now Rebecca is Rebecca DeLoach Sawyer DeLoach. In the John R. DeLoach family Bible Rebeccas's Sawyer daughter Edna is married to Moses Yarborough Pruitt. Rebecca's Sawyer son', Wilson & John are listed in that Bible, however nothing more is mentioned about them. I had often wondered why their names were in the Bible, so with Rebecca have been married to a Sawyer and her maiden name not Sawyer as I first believed, I now understand the connection. I have contacted another Sawyer from this line once but have been unable to hear from them again. I really would love to as Rebeccas' Sawyer children are my cousins through the DeLoach connection. I have received info from another Sawyer researcher stating Craven was born abt 1796 and died before 1830 wich co incides with the census info I found for 1830. This person also indicates Rebecca & Craven had a son Elder but I did not find that in the DeLoach Bible, instead there was a John Sawyer which the Sawyer researcher does not have listed. I checked some SC records on line for the time frame of 1800 and found only two Sawyers living there at that time One was John and the other George. So was George Sawyer the father of Elizabeth Sawyer? If anyone can help with anything on these Sawyer's & DeLoach's, I would forever be grateful. Please, if there are any descendants from these lines, please contact me. Wanda

    3. So, it does work. Wanda This really works Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway-but the Hershey Man will know! YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH This is pretty neat. DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute Work this out as you read ... Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun. 1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10) 2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold) 3. Add 5 4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator 5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1756 .... If you haven't, add 1755. 6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born. You should have a three digit number The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week). The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!) THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2006) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS. Have a great day!
