Mike, No place does it show a connection, but looking at what I have access to, here is the way I read what is there. Anna Jane Boone had a laison with an unknown DeLoach, possible John Allen, producing Columbus Napoleon BOONE (30 Aug 1881, she married or another Laison with a SULLIVAN. had Herschel Edgar SULLIVAN (09 Oct 1887), a third incounter produced Dasy (1891). She married Jackson L McDonald, 06 Jun 1898 in Liberty County, and is shown on the census 1900 in his household with stepdaughter Daisy. Herschel Edgar SULLIVAN is shown in the household of his grandmother in another district of Liberty County. The 1900 census states she has three living children, with only Daisy listed. And the birth of Columbus being prior to the marriage of John Allen DeLoach to Martha Wilkinson taken place 11 Aug 1884, the event took place before that. Don't believe that we will find anything on this, without contacting one of the parties involved, as I find very little of this was recorded in the county records. The total knowledge being contained within the family, you may find it in an Obit for Columbus Napoleon Boone, but contacting on of the summiters of this information to Family History Center would probable be the quickest. Additional info; Long County was formed from Liberty, in 1920, prior to that Liberty bordered both Tattnall and Wayne. Bill
After writing to SMGF again requesting that the information be corrected on the four Boone/DeLoach/McDonald pedigree charts that are found when one does a search on the DeLoach surname, I received the following: "It is my understanding that you have requested a change to DeLoach pedigrees within the SMGF database based on information contained in the 1900 Wayne County, Georgia census. Regrettably, we are unable to accommodate your requested at this time because of a lack of sufficient documentation. Requests to amend pedigree information, other than directly submitted by you, requires documentation in the form of vital records such as birth records, death records, marriage records, biographies, etc. If you have additional documentation in this form we would be happy to review it and reassess our decision." Here is what we need to prove: 1-Joseph DeLoach b. 31 Mar 1806, Tattnall County, Georgia, d. 12 Jun 1883, Tattnall County, Georgia +Sarah Ann Barnard b. 31 May 1813, South Carolina, d. 15 Oct 1893, Tattnall County, Georgia |--2-John Allen DeLoach b. 18 Apr 1840, Tattnall County, Georgia, d. 1 Jul | 1862, Charlottesville, Virginia | +Rebecca Ann Elizabeth Johnson b. 14 Mar 1842, d. 28 Oct 1924, Tattnall | County, Georgia | |--3-John Allen DeLoach II b. 25 Jun 1862 | +Martha R Wilkinson b. Jan 1868, Georgia | |--4-John A. DeLoach b. Dec 1884, Wayne County, Georgia, d. Abt 1956, | | Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-William E. DeLoach b. Nov 1888, Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-Mary O. DeLoach b. Dec 1890, Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-Thomas W. DeLoach b. Mar 1893, Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-Asa I. DeLoach b. Feb 1895, Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-Jackson DeLoach b. Dec 1896, Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-Ethna M. DeLoach b. Dec 1898, Wayne County, Georgia | |--4-Lizzie DeLoach b. Dec 1899, Wayne County, Georgia I have the 1850 Tattnall County, GA census showing that John Allen DeLoach is a son of Joseph DeLoach and Sarah Barnard. The birth and marriage dates for Joseph and Sarah are available at FamilySearch.org in the IGI. I have the 1860 Tattnall County, GA census which shows that 20 year old John Allen DeLoach is still residing with his parents. On 7 Mar 1861, John Allen DeLoach married Rebecca Ann Elizabeth Johnson in Tattnall County, GA. Their son, John Allen DeLoach, Jr was born on 25 Jun 1862. Meanwhile, John Allen DeLoach, Sr joined the Confederacy, and died in Charlottesville, VA on 1 Jul 1862. I have the 1870 Tattnall County, GA census which shows 7 year old Allen DeLoach living in the household of his maternal grandparents, Randall and Mary J. Johnson. I have the 1880 Tattnall County, GA census which shows 17 year old John Allen DeLoach, Jr living with his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Sarah DeLoach. Rebecca Ann Elizabeth Johnson DeLoach, widow of John Allen DeLoach, Sr remarried on 28 Jun 1872 to William M. Rolls in Tattnall County. This information is available at FamilySearch.org in the IGI. I have the 1880 Tattnall County, GA census which shows the family of William M. Rolls and his wife Rebecca. John Allen DeLoach, Jr married Martha R. Wilkinson on 11 Aug 1884 in Liberty County, GA. WE NEED A COPY OF THIS. I have the 1900 Liberty County, GA census which shows Allen J. DeLoach and his wife Martha R. DeLoach and their eight children. I do not have copies of marriage or birth records for any of the key figures, that is John Allen DeLoach to Rebecca Ann Elizabeth Johnson, and John Allen DeLoach, Jr to Martha R. Wilkinson. I do not have the military record which proves that John Allen DeLoach Sr died in Charlottesville, VA. ---------- Now that you know what we are trying to prove, here is what we are trying to disprove. The four pedigree charts found when searching on the DeLoach surname show: Generation 1: Protected, but logically submitted by someone with the Boone surname. Generation 2: Protected, but either Oren Jackson Boone or James Roland Boone. Generation 3: Columbus Napoleon Boone, b. 30 Aug 1881, d. 22 May 1950, both in Tattnall County, GA. Generation 4: John Allen DeLoach, born in 1862, so this would be John Allen DeLoach, Jr. When you click on the spouse of John Allen DeLoach, she is identified as Ann Jane Boone. Then, when you click on Ann Jane Boone's family, her husband is identified as John Allen McDonald, married on 6 Jun 1898 in Liberty County, GA. In the data base, John Allen McDonald's father is identified as Jackson McDonald. All of this information about the Boone and McDonald families is probably correct, but the pedigree chart shows that: Generation 5: John Allen DeLoach, Sr, born in 1840. Generation 6: Joseph DeLoach, born in 1806. It is quite apparent that the process which SMGF uses to produce the pedigree charts has crossed or combined families in the 4th generation. The identities of John Allen DeLoach, Sr has been crossed with John Allen McDonald. Additionally, the surnames on the Y-DNA line should all be Boone or McDonald. The only way to prove this beyond doubt, is to have a copy of that marriage record between John Allen DeLoach, Jr and Martha R. Wilkinson. It would also be very helpful if someone could find a copy of the marriage record between John Allen McDonald and Ann Jane Boone. Both of these marriages took place in Liberty County, GA. So, if we have descendants of John Allen DeLoach who might have the records, or if we have DeLoach researchers who live in Liberty County, please help. I would like to get this resolved before all of the DeLoach DNA samples submitted to SMGF get processed. Thanks. Mike

Over the weekend, I requested a 26 marker to 43 marker Y-DNA upgrade from Relative Genetics. The results were posted today: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm I used the new 43 marker results to compare with the participants in the Y-Search and Y-Base data bases. There were no other records that were even close. I was surprised, because the 26 marker results that I had compared before found three records that were better than a 90% match. I suppose (and hope) that this indicates that our DeLoach (et al) DNA is quite different from all others. More completed DNA tests will tell. For those who have ordered and submitted participation kits to Sorenson, you are probably still waiting for the kits to be processed. SMGF holds the kits until they have a large batch, then processes them all at once to save expenses. I submitted my SMGF kit on 27 Dec 2006, and the results are still not available. Let's stay hopeful that we get a batch process soon. I got a response from SMGF concerning the information I sent them about the four existing files found when you do a search on the DeLoach surname. The answer was lame, and did not indicate a real effort to evaluate those Pedigree Charts. I sent them a rebuttal, so I hope someone will take a closer look. Mike
