    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: javan114 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.deloach/414.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Flo, For those on the DeLoach Mail List who did not see your post on the Gregg County, Texas message Board, I will repeat it here: Ethel McCutchan, daughter of Dr. Robert William McCutchan and Augusta E. DeLoach, was born abt 1874. She married Frederick W. Fraley and they had a daughter Mary Fraley who married Ralph C. Cooley. They were the parents of Dr. Denton Cooley of Houston, TX. Ethel's siblings were: 1. Robert William McCutchan, Jr. - died 17 July 1877 in infancy. Buried Greenwood Cemetery, Longview, TX. 2. Marion Sims McCutchan, born abt 1878, probably Longview, TX; died 1944. He married Mary McAlister. He lived in Paris, Lamar Co, TX in 1900. 3. Tennie Augusta McCutchan, born abt 1882, Longview, TX; died ?. Married Frank Wilson. Her daughter, Mrs. Edward L. Miller, lived in Marshall, TX. I am not related, but as a hobby, research the early physicians of Gregg Co, TX. Dr. McCutchan is believed to have been born in Humbolt, Gibson Co, TN. He was the son of James and Martha McCutchan. He first studied medicine under Dr. Marion Sims of Anniston, Calhoun Co, AL. He later received his formal medical education at the University of Nashville, TN where he graduated Mar. 1, 1870. He then came to Texas and is enumerated on the 1870 census of Upshur Co, TX. The 1874 Medical Register & Directory of the U.S. lists his P.O. address as Gilmer. By 1875, he had registered his diploma with the clerk of Gregg Co. He seems to have practiced medicine between Longview and Gladewater during the 1870s and 1880s. According to Probate Records of Gregg Co.,he died Nov. 8, 1885. His wife, Augusta, had preceeded him in death, June 9, 1883, leaving 3 children: Ethel, 9 yrs; Sims, abt 5 yrs and Tennie, abt 2 yrs. He may have married again (to a woman named Kate)after the death of his first wife and had another son, who was also named Robert McCutchan, Jr. (same as first son who died in infancy). I'm not sure about this, however. If you have other information on Dr. Robert W. McCutchan, I would love to hear from you. ----------- The information that we have found about Augusta E. DeLoach may be found here: http://desloges.us/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I278&tree=desloges I looked at the 1850 and 1860 census records for Gibson County, TN, and 1870 Morgan County, AL, and it appeared to me that the parents of Robert William McCutchan were D.C McCutchan and his wife Priscilla. This is based strictly on the census records, so you may have better sources. Mike Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Alma Deloach was my grandmother, daughter of Pauline Dunagin and William T. DeLoach, and was sister to Neal, Rooker, Mayme and Pauline (listed correctly). She was born in 1905 and died in 1991. She married Paul Hilman Chambers (b. 1903, d.1992) and had one son in 1931, James William Chambers, my father, who died in 1972. 1. [DELOACH] DNA Surname Project
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: miriamdufer_1 Surnames: Summerville, Washington, DeLoach, Burkhalter, Mustin, and Sturdivant (and variant spellings) Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.deloach/411/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Genealogy Research is conducted in many ways, one of which is DNA. How are we all related? Where did we come from? I have started two DNA Projects via The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF). Project #1 is for surnames Summerville, Burkhalter, and Mustin (and variant spellings) which encompasses my maternal grand-father's line. Project #2 is for surnames Washington, DeLoach, and Sturdivant (and variant spellings) which encompasses my maternal grand-mother's line. I invite you to read the information below and consider participating in this technologically extraodrinary project. The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) has built the world's foremost collection of mitochondrial DNA data and corresponding genealogies. Both men and women have mtDNA, which they inherit from their mothers, who in turn, inherit their mtDNA from their mothers. This makes mtDNA an excellent tool for maternal line research. Searching the mtDatabase allows us to find cousins who may be connected across generations and around the world. Other individuals with exact matches may share a common ancestor, though it can be difficult to determine how far in the past that common ancestor may have lived without the genealogical information found in pedigree charts. If you have not participated in the SMGF project, I invite you to add your DNA results and pedigree chart to the Sorenson Database by Requesting a Participation Kit. Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation Participation Kit . The results of that test will be entered into the Sorenson Database where it can be matched against other participants. The database can be searched, and if matches are found, the person's 4 generation ancestry can be matched with yours. All SMGF participants will be able to redeem their one-time coupon for either: A discounted 26-marker Y-chromosome Paternal Line Analysis for $95 USD OR A discounted mtDNA Maternal Line Analysis for $95 USD Some participants may be satisfied with the results from Phase 1 and not wish to enter Phase 2. The second phase is done through Relative Genetics. At any time, you can order the free test kit from Relative Genetics: Relative Genetics Test Kit Once you have received the coupon from SMGF, you can use it to order the type of test you wish from Relative Genetics. Note - the coupon is only good for the discounted 26-marker Y-chromosome Paternal Line Analysis, or the discounted mtDNA Maternal Line Analysis. If you wish, you can order the 43-marker test for $195, or you can later upgrade the 26-marker test to 43 markers for $75. The extra benefit of having a 43-marker test can be seen from the chart at: Participation All members of the Summerville, Washington, DeLoach, Burkhalter, Mustin, and Sturdivant (and variant spellings) family are encouraged to participate. Confidentiality Only the participant and the Project Coordinator will know the results of the test, unless the participant agrees to share the information on the Release Form. Glad I did. Let me know what you think. I still have to find the rest. My Grandmother told me in the late thirties that the De Loach CLan was royaltyand had to leave, they fled north then into England for several years, then to the New World, landing some where in Virginia in the middle 1600s. There is a Coat of Arms registered in the French Armory. I understand tha t they discontinued that in the middle 16th Century. But wht she related to me was that we were De Loach's period. THere were others that had a french name that was changed to De Loach after arriving in Virginisa. Thats all for now, more when I did it all out and can send it to you. Take care.
