    2. Javan Michael DeLoach
    3. The new DNA results posted by the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation have been extracted and posted on the DeLoach DNA Web page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm Three of the participants listed are women who got brothers or fathers to submit DNA samples for them. The information from these surrogate males has been posted for the women. Ancestry.com has started a new DNA endeavor, using SMGF as the DNA lab to do their testing. Because of this, Relative Genetics, who had been the host of our DeLoach DNA project, has closed their business and transferred all of the DNA records to DNA Ancestry. As a result, the special discount from SMGF is no longer available. DNA Ancestry will be developing a new system for surname projects, and this new system is expected to be on-line before the end of the year. As soon as the DeLoach DNA Project is incorporated in the new system, I will let you know. I would like to remind everyone that the DNA analysis provided by SMGF is free. Your participation in the Sorenson Project will help develop a DNA linked genealogy data base that will help future DeLoach researchers discover their ancestry. The free test kits may be ordered here: http://www.smgf.org/pages/request_kit.jspx Mike

    3. It has taken almost a year, but we finally have gotten some DNA results posted on the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation Web site: http://www.smgf.org/ Click on Y-Database, then Search the Y-Database for the DeLoach surname As near as I can tell from the results, everyone who said that they had submitted a DNA sample has the results posted, except for Jay DeLoach. I checked my 43 marker test against those listed, and found a near match with everyone except for Charles H. DeLoach. I will extract the results from the SMGF charts, and post them on our DeLoach DNA Web page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm Will the person who is number 2 on the SMGF charts please contact me. 3. In my search of South Carolina records for my new found surname CRONIC/CHRONICH/KRANICH, I found an interesting "tid-bit" regarding a Michael DELOCHE. Under "South Carolina Militia Companies 1757 A list of the number of men belonging to the Regiment of Militia in Berkley County commanded by Colonel John Chevillette Pay roll of Captain John Morrison's Company under Col Chevillette ( Amelia Company: Muster-roll # 2 186 Michael Deloche I am wondering which Michael DeLoach this is? Michael, IV b. 1718 VA descendant of Michel DesLoges son Michael would fit this, but is he the right Michael. Can anyone help with this? Now for my Cronic surname- I have discovered the Rebecca Sawyer, second wife of John R. DeLoach (and my direct line) , was born Rebecca Cronic/Kranich 1804 in Edgefield County, SC. I have not located who her parents were, however I have found several Cronics, in Orangeburgh District,SC, Edgefield Co, SC nd in Georgia. Rebecca Cronic was first married to Craven Sawyer and had four/five children, Craven died before 1830 Crawford Co census. Rebecca Cronic Sawyer then married John R. DeLoach in 1834 and they became my great-great grandparents. If anyone has any knowledge of these people, please let me know. Thanks Wanda

    1. Re: [DELOACH] DAVID DELOACH & WIFE, REBECCA
    2. Charles DeLoach
    3. This is in reply to Wanda Harbert's inquiry about David DeLoach and his wife, Rebecca DeLoach. I am a native of Hampton County and the son of the late Ben Tillman DeLoach who was Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hampton County for over 50 years. My Dad, as Clerk of Court, had ready access to deeds and mortgages and other public records, and he did considerable research on the DeLoach families in Hampton County (which was formed from Old Beaufort District after the Civil War). Most of the records of Old Beaufort District were destroyed by fire by Sherman's Army during the Civil War and, of course, those records would have included deeds etc concerning David & Rebecca DeLoach who predated the Civil War. I am, however, advising the information which my research has developed as follows: "There were two David DeLoaches living in St. Peters Parish of Old Beaufort District, South Carolina during the last half of the 1700's and the first half of the 1800's. One of the David DeLoaches (1774 or 1777 to 1849 was the Great grand father of Ben Tillman DeLoach and who was the son of Michael DeLoach II (1754-?). The other David DeLoach (born 1752): The several published DeLoach Family Histories disagree concerning who was David's father and who were his children. Some genealogists show this David as the son of William DeLoach Jr. (born 1702) & Judith Wall DeLoach while others show him as the son of Michael DeLoach (born 1732) & Elizabeth Rochelle DeLoach and the brother of Michael DeLoach II (born 1754). The latter is probably the case but no proof either way has been found. These two brothers (assuming that David's father was Michael DeLoach (Sr) were both born in Craven County, S.>C. and moved to Old Beaufort District, South Carolina (in what is now Hampton County). Both brothers (David born 1752 and Michael II born 1754) both reportedly died in 1815. Both acquired large holdings of land in close proximity to each other. This David DeLoach (1752-1815) settled on lands on the Savannah River near Solomons Crossroads - lands later referred to as the "Old Greenwood Plantation" and more lately known as the Groton Plantation. He married Rebeckah (last name unknown). In his book "Deep Enough for Ivorybills", James Kilgo recounts how a hunter stumbled across the DeLoach Family Cemetery on the Old Greenwood Plantation and he recorded the following information from the tombstone inscription: DeLoach, David -- died on 13 Juy 1815, age 63 DeLoach, Rebeckah, died on 10 Oct. 1807, age 40, wife of David DeLoach, James, died 1827, age 27 DeLoach, Sarah, died 1825, wife of James DeLoach, David - infant died Feb. 1795 DeLoach, Jepthah - infant died March 1805 DeLoach, Elevia, died 17 Nov 1822, age 18, wife of William B. DeLoach The information from this cemetery is part of the very little data which can be verified for this family, although other records found at the Old DeLoach Plantation, the original home which is now used as a hunting cabin on this plantation near Solomons Crossroad and a few miles from the cemetery include the following: B. T. DeLoach, born July 6, 1829; died June 14, 1861 Alfred M. DeLoach, born Nov. 18, 1886, died June26, 18?, 1 yrs John M. DeLoach, b. Nov. 17, 1813; d. July 2, 1847, 44 yrs old L. C. DeLoach; b. Sept 17, 1854, d. Sept 28, 1867, 13 yrs old Sarah DeLoach; b. Nov. 1, 1791, d. Dec 31, 1847, 56 yrs. Patience (consort of A.R. Turner); b. 1822, d. 1840, 18 yrs The Descendants of Michel DesLoges website on the Internet contains the following information about a James DeLoach (son of David DeLoach (1752-1815) and Rebeckah DeLoach (1767-1807): James DeLoach, born 1898 in Craven County, South Carolina and died 1824 in Hampton County,S.C.; married Sarah (DeLoach) in 1814. Children: 1. Eliza Adelaide, born 1815, Hampton County, SC 2. Martha Hanna DeLoach, born 1817, Beaufort Dist. SC died Jan 07, 1903 3. Mary Bryant, born Apr 24, 1822, Beaufort Dist. SC died Oct. 08, 1910." Wanda, there appears to be no mention in any of these records about David & Rebeckah DeLoach having a daughter by the name of Rebecca. My great-great-grandfather, David DeLoach (1774-1849)==mentioned above-- had a son named Michael DeLoach (my great-grandfather) ((1826-1907) who married Rebecca DeLoach (DeLoach being her maiden name). I have been unable to find out her line of DeLoaches but family Bible records show that her father was named William DeLoach. Isn't genealogy fun!!! Please let me know if I an provide any further information. 2. In going thru my notes I found Simon Deloach of Dickson County Tennessee mentioned. I have NO IDEA who he is, and I am not so far as I know related to him, but am passing this along for the benefit of those who might be related. In the tax sales listed below, I have deleted over 100 other names. If Simon is yours, please check the website for related names. One interesting fact about Simon is that he is listed in the Dickson Co, TN as a Revolutionary War Pensioner, but he is only 57 yrs old--born in 1783. The Census enumeration is very clear and easy to read. Apparently this is the reason he was mentioned in the Congressional record--see below.
