If you have done a search on the SMGF Web page for the DeLoach surname, you have seen test results for the Boone - DeLoach family. I had contacted a member of this family some time ago to determine the linkage between the families, as the pedigree charts that accompanied their test results did not match any ancesttry that we had found. I learned that Anne Jane Boone allegedly had a child fathered by John Allen DeLoach: http://genealogy.desloges.us/getperson.php?personID=I21363&tree=deloach I derived the DNA test results from the SMGF chart for the Boone - DeLoach participants, and posted them on our DeLoach DNA Project page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm So far, there is not a match with any of the participants in our Project. Hi Charles, SMGF does not return the results of their DNA tests to the participants, either directly or on their Web site. What they do is post whether or not a participants test matches or does not match a standard set of marker results. The participant can only be identified on their Web page by looking at the small Pedigree Chart that is posted with the results. Since we have the ancestry of all of our participants in the DesLoges data base, we can identify the name of the participant. If you go to the SMGF YDNA Search page: http://www.smgf.org/ychromosome/search.jspx then do a search on the surname DeLoach, you should find 13 participants listed who have specified the name DeLoach in their pedigree. Look at the Pedigree Chart for participant #8, and you will probably recognize it. I have to "play with" the SMGF chart extensively to find the matching numbers of our participants. Once I have found them, they are posted here: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm If you elect to have a more extensive test done through one of the commercial companies, they will send you the results by mail, along with a certificate and a detailed explanation of what your results mean. Any results, regardless of how you get them, are meaningless unless you can compare them to other persons. Besides our project there are a couple of Web sites where you can compare your DNA tests with thousands of others who have been tested. These are: Ybase http://ybase.org/ Ysearch http://www.ysearch.org/ Both of these sites also let you do a surname search, even if you do not have test results of your own for comparison. Please let me know if you have other questions. Mike
Mike, I sent my sample to SMGF many moons ago but I have never received any test results. All results that I have seen have been in your emails. Added the test results for several markers that had previously been missing. Added the marker Y-GATA-C4. The new results still had a lot of unknown values when compared to the values that we had already established, so I did a couple hours of searching with random numbers looking for matches. I was successful for about half of the unknowns before I exceeded my daily quota of searches. I'll try it again tomorrow. The new test results can be seen here: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm An analysis of the results provides this information: Mike and Lisa DeLoach have a common ancestor of Rev Samuel Carter DeLoach (wife Matha Louisa Garrison). Marilyn and Roger DeLoach are siblings, with Roger acting as a surrogate for Marilyn. Their common ancestry with Mike and Lisa is John DeLoach (wife Phoebe Wallen). Garland, Jim and Kathleen DeLoach Garrett have a common ancestry of William DeLoach (wife Elizabeth Gosset). Hi Wanda, Did you submit your own sample, or have a close male DeLoach relative act as a surrogate for you? If the latter, I will pick up the YDNA test results as soon as they are posted by SMGF. If you submitted your own sample, you will get an analysis of your MtDNA, which will trace your maternal line through your mother to your grandmothers. Because of this, your test results are not useful in tracing your DeLoach ancestry. However, the ancestral information that was submitted, in either case, will be added to the Sorenson Database, and will assist future researchers of our ancestry. Mike
