Hi Wanda, Henry Thomas was Mordecai Holland's and Missouri DeLoach's first child of several. Mordecai was raised by Henry Thomas Maxey (Martha's brother I think?). I do not know what happened to Martha after Geoge K's death. Judith, George K. Holland & Martha (Maxey) were married 4/17/1824 in Hinds co, Ms. George was killled by bandits ( for money) abt 1836. They had 3 sons, James A., Jackson ( died in Civil War) and Mersedia ( or Mordocia). Which one does your Henry Thomas a son of, James A. or Mersedia? Wanda
Judith, I am one of your DELOACH cousins & your Holland line as well. I am very interested in getting touch with you also. I too, live in Calif. I descend from Floyd Washington DeLoach whose sisters Miriam Frances married James A. Holland and Missouri DeLoach who married Mordicia/Mersedia Holland. Hope to hear from you. Hi, Cousin Larry....I was so excited to read your information!! My GGGrandfather is Henry Holland and My grandmther is Dora Holland Carter, sister of Alvin. I have had trouble finding info on George Holland, so I am glad to hear that you have the date and place of his marriage. There is another cousin, Arvilla Jessup Boswell, interested especially in our DeLoach/Holland heritage. She actually has a good deal of informationa and we have pictures of your grandfather, Alvin. We are from the California branch of Holland/Carters. Our mothers Mary and Beverly Carter were also born in Love county, but we were born here in the 1940's. One of my daughters and her family live in Phoenix. Thank you for contacting the DeLoach Roots! But....most of all, thank you for serving our country!! Hey Cuz Larry Don, I have a problem that I hope you can help me solve. Somehow I have Henry Thomas Holland connected to both of my Holland lines. I don't remember the person who sent me this data but this is what I have and I am sure you know which is correct. I have a Henry Thomas born 1859 to James A. Holland & Frances Miriam DeLoach, married to Annie Elizabeth Helms. If this Henry is the correct Henry, he was third child/son of James Hollandand not the last. THEN, I have a Henry Holland b. 1860, married to Annie E. Helms. If this Henry is the son of Mordicia/Mersedia & Missouri, he was their first child/son, not the last. I remember now receiving some of this information from one of the Holland descendants who also lives in California, but I have not heard from her is ages and the address I have for her is not active.. Surely one of these Henry's is incorrect? Or did both James & Mordicia have a son named Henry????? Keep safe. Wanda
Hi Cuz! Thanks for responding. This is exciting! I do have a lot on my Holland line but not with me here in Iraq. I have hit a dead end with my Great x 3 Grandfather but here it is in a nutshell: George K. Holland was born 1804 and married Martha M. Maxey in 1824 in Hinds County Mississippi They had three sons that I know of James A. born 1825 married Miram Frances DeLoach Jackson T. born 1827 married Margaret Greer And my Great Great Grandfather Mordecai (Marsedia is another name I have seen on him) was born 1836 and married Missouri DeLoach (Masonary and Elizabeth are other names I have seen on her) There was a younger sister of Miriam and Missouri named Mitty Ann R. DeLoach My Great Grandfather was the youngest of about 9 children of Mordecai and Missouri. He was Henery Thomas Holland born in 1860 in Caliborne Parrish Louisianna and married Annie E. Helms My Grandfather was Alvin Holland born in Love County (Indian Teritory) Oklahoma My 75 year old Father is Marvin Jackson Holland born in 1933 in Love Co. my Mother is Frances Juanita (Rackley) born in Love Co in 1936 I was born in Phoenix Arizona in 1953 but raised in Dallas Texas My parents live in Love Co Oklahoma now I have a younger sister Darleta age 54 and brother Darrell age 40. I have one niece and three nephews. I have a Son Daniel Dale age 26 and a daughter Angela Louise age 24. Angela is single and Dan is married and expecting my first grandchild in Feb 09. I can gather more info on all the census records and birth places etc later. I have to go for now but hope to hear from you again soon. I look forward to finding out more about the DeLoach line since it goes back so much further than I have been able to track my Holland line. Thanks so much and God Bless You Larry ----- Original Message ----- From: Wanda Harbert <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, October 5, 2008 19:40 Subject: Re: [DELOACH] DeLoach DNA Project Update To: [email protected] > Larry Dale, > > You are of my line of DeLoach's and I have been searching for your > Holland line. > We are from William DeLoach & Judith Wall's son Thomas DeLoach Sr, > Thomas > DeLoach, Jr., his first wife ( of 3) Mary/Elizabeth, their son, > William and wife > Eleanor Gossett, their son, John R. I submitted a DNA sample way back when the DeLoach project began. My geneology research was interupted by my Army carrerr. I am currently deployed to Iraq and have some time to resume research. I have no record of my DNA results. Is it on file? My ancestory is as follows: My Great Great Grandfather Mordecai Holland married Masonary Missouri DeLoach daughter of John DeLoach (William DeLoach's son) My Great Great Uncle (Mordecai's brother) James Holland married Miriam Frances DeLoach (Masonary Missouri's sister) Is my Great (x 4) Grandfather William DeLoach in your family tree? Are we cousins? I would deeply appreciate any information you have on my family line. Larry Dale Holland
Hi Larry, The results from your DNA sample would be filed under the HOLLAND surname, as this is your YDNA male line of descent. I did a search at SMGF (assuming that is where you submitted your sample) for the HOLLAND surname, and found 7 names that had a close match with the default values. It does not appear that one of these is yours. You can make the search at: http://www.smgf.org/ Click on Y-Database, then Search the Y-Database. I did a Google search for a Holland DNA Project, and found one at: http://www.hollandfamily.us/DNA/ I did find your results listed there: http://www.hollandfamily.us/DNA/results.htm The William DeLoach in your ancestry is not on my direct ancestral line. The information that we have found about him can be seen here: http://genealogy.desloges.us/getperson.php?personID=I17142&tree=deloach Take care, and stay safe. Mike
Larry Don, I see I have the wrong mother for you. Actually her names was Missouri Ann and not Massonary as the census indicates. Wanda
Larry Dale, You are of my line of DeLoach's and I have been searching for your Holland line. We are from William DeLoach & Judith Wall's son Thomas DeLoach Sr, Thomas DeLoach, Jr., his first wife ( of 3) Mary/Elizabeth, their son, William and wife Eleanor Gossett, their son, John R. DeLoach and Rebecca Sawyer, ( his second wife), their son Floyd Washington DeLoach & Roxey Ann Kilbourn. You are from Miriam Frances DeLoach if I remember correctly who married Mordecia Holland. Her sister Missouri Ann married James Holland who is a brother of your Mordecia ( or do I have the sisters reversed?) I really want to get in touch with you, I have lots of our DeLoach line.. Your cousin, Wanda [email protected]
Dear Mike, My husband is descended from William DeLoache and Judith Wall through their son, Michael. He has participated in the Cathcart DNA which requires a male line. As his line does come through many females, would his DNA in this study be useful? He descends from Redding Cannon DeLoach which is the last DeLoach male in his line. All this work with DNA is proving very helpful to those of us who are interested in genealogy. Of course, so much thanks goes to you and all the work you have done. Hi Wanda, No, I also descend from Thomas, Sr. through his son Michael Allison DeLoach. We are 6th cousins. I checked the SMGF Web Page last night to see if any new test results had been posted. Specifically, I was hoping that the sample submitted by Ralph DeLoach had been processed, as this is the only one that I am aware of that has not been processed. No luck. I was surprised to find that samples that had been previously submitted by Lisa DeLoach (her father was the surrogate), Charles DeLoach and Jay DeLoach had results on-line that had not been posted previously. These results have been retrieved from SMGF and posted on the DeLoach DNA Project page: http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~javan/desloges/dna/results/results.htm We still do not have enough participants to make a definitive analysis of the results to date. [Reminder - The SMGF service is free. Why not participate?] However, based upon the results that we do have, a significant finding is emerging. As can be seen on the charts, there appears to be two separate DeLoach branches that are not directly related!!! Our paper trail indicates that all participants in the DNA Project have a common ancestor with William DeLoach/Judith Wall. In Earle Steadman's book, The DesLoges Family, five sons were listed for William DeLoach: Thomas, William, Hardy, Michael and Jesse. The DNA results indicate that one of the five sons was not genetically linked with William DeLoach. This might be due to an adoption, a son born to Judith Wall before her marriage to William DeLoach, or a mistake in the genealogical research. At this point, one could only guess. Here is a listing of the DNA Project participants and which of William's sons they descend from: Thomas-Mike DeLoach, Lisa DeLoach Waldman, Marilyn DeLoach Elliott, Garland DeLoach, Kathleen DeLoach Garrett, and James Douglas DeLoach William-no known descendants Hardy-Jay DeLoach Michael-Charles H. DeLoach Jesse-Ralph DeLoach (no DNA results yet) It will be very interesting to view Ralph's results. Should his DNA reveal a close connection with Jay and Charles, it would indicate that Thomas DeLoach was the son not genetically connected to William DeLoach/Judith Wall. Our DNA project would really benefit from a greater participation of DeLoach descendants. However, the greater benefit may be to the participants who are able to use their DNA to verify their connection to the DeLoach family. Testing through SMGF is free, so why not join us in this effort: http://www.smgf.org/pages/request_kit.jspx If you do wish to participate or have submitted a sample of your DNA, please let me know. Mike
Mike, I descend from William DeLoach & Judith Wall's son Thomas Sr. Does this mean I am not one of your DeLoach cousins??? Thomas, Jr is my ancestor, please explain to this "dummy".. Wanda
