    1. [DELOACH] Egbert Deloach KY
    2. John Deloach of Sumner County Tn--son of Samuel Deloach & Mary Boykin was involved with the family of Ephriam Peyton below. Dorothy Luttrell wrote to me that John's 1st wife was a Peyton, but she never sent me proof. Ephriam Peyton left John Deloach in charge of his wife and property as he intended to go to Kentucky. Peytons children are surnamed Deloach in the deed Peyton eventually returned from Ky & sued John Deloach. however the Suit was not brought to trial. John Deloach was either out of state or dead at the time of the suit. it is possible that Egbert may be a corruption of Yelverton (it is spelled Egelverton) in the deed. One is for Dan DeLoache or his brother Jim (I cannot tell from the info available). Dan submitted his sample to SMGF on 29 Dec 2008, almost a year ago. The other result posted is for Thomas Hampton DeLoach, who submitted his sample at about the same time. No sign of the results for others who have submitted a sample. The test results for Dan (or Jim) are an exact match to that of Lisa DeLoach Waldman ( who used her father as a surrogate). This is quite interesting, since Lisa and Dan are 5th cousins 3 times removed, and their common ancestors are William DeLoach and his wife Patience Allison. The other interesting tidbit is that we now have matches for the descendants of all three sons of William and Patience DeLoach. Unfortunately, the results for Thomas H. DeLoach are not a match for any of our participants. This is not a total surprise. The oldest known ancestor for Thomas is Egbert H. DeLoach from Kentucky. Joseph Earle Steadman "guessed" that Egbert was the son Thomas DeLoach, and grandson of William DeLoach and his wife Purity Ruffin. See: http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~javan/desloges/records/misc/jesltr.htm I have to convert the SMGF data for our participant Thomas H. Hi Garland, If you sent in your kit to SMGF, the results will eventually be posted on their site. To have your ancestry posted on our DeLoach DNA Project, please fill out these forms: http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~javan/desloges/dna/pedigreeform.htm http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~javan/desloges/dna/releaseform.htm If you did not send the free test kit back to SMGF, there are several commercial genealogy DNA companies that can provide the testing and reporting you need. One of the best, as far as price ($99), reliability and promptness, is DNA.Ancestry. (I have no affiliation with them or any other company). You can order a kit here: http://dna.ancestry.com/buyKitGoals.aspx The 33 marker test is sufficient for matching inside the DeLoach clan. Other companies are GeneTree ($149): https://www.genetree.com/purchase_dna_kit/product_selection Family Tree DNA ($139): http://www.familytreedna.com/products.aspx DNA Heritage ($138): http://www.dnaheritage.com/ystr.asp These companies will send you a kit in 3-5 days from the time of your application, and usually send you the results in about ten days after you send the kit back to them. As far as I know, the reliability of the testing in all of the companies is the same. DNA.Ancestry seems to be leading the pack in keeping up with the standards. They also host our DeLoach DNA Project: http://groups.ancestry.com/site/35454243/ You will note that we have several Project members who initially joined that have not sent in their request for a kit, or have not signed into this site. If you have other questions, please let me know. BTW, when are you heading down to the Rio Grande? Mike

    3. The following request for assistance is from Susan Wales <[email protected]>: Subject: LOOKING FOR EMMA DELOACH Date: Sun, 25 Oct 2009 14:00:54 -0700 Hi: I am seeking information on Emma Deloach, who was born in Alabama or Georgia around 1857- 1861. She married James Thomas Baird and had the following children: You will find a family photo on my grandmother's link below Minnie Mae Baird. She is not in the photo but her father James Thomas Baird is, as are his parents and his siblings. I have found an Emma Deloach, the daughter of Joseph Deloach and Susan Hardy Deloach, which would mean she was orphaned in 1863, the year they both died of typhoid fever. I later found the brother of this Emma Deloach living with his grandfather John Deloach. It would make sense perhaps that Emma Deloach and her sister Martha Ann were adopted by another family member since their brother remained with his grandfather (his wife Amelia Isabella Magnan Deloach, also died of typhoid fever. I have located their graves at Hill View cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia, including Martha Ann Deloach who married a Stewart, but Emma seems to have disappeared after her father died and before she married my great grandfather, James Thomas Baird. Can anyone help me locate what happened to Emma after her parents died . . . where did she go? Emma is buried with her husband, James Thomas at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke, Alabama. Is this even the correct Emma Deloach, and if so, where did she go after her parents died? She would have only been 5 years old. The last census in which I found her before her marriage was 1860. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. [DELOACH] William E Deloach in Tattnall County, Georgia
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mrhudy_1 Surnames: Deloach, Collins Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.deloach/447/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for some information on William E. Deloach in the early 1900 in Tattnall County, Georgia. At present there seems to be two William E Deloachs. The 1900 Census shows the Wm E Deloach family living in District 129, Cobbtown, Tattnall County, Georgia. The family consists of Wm E Deloach (age 25 [birth day Jan or Jun 1875]), Mary Deloach (age 30 [May 1870]), Delmer Deloach (age 5 [Jan or Jun 1895]), Caddie Deloach (age 3 [Mar 1897]) and Mary J Deloach (age 1 [Mar 1899]). There is also in the 1900 Census a William Deloach [William Delaoch] living in District 133 in Glenville Village, Tattnall, Georgia with his family. This is William Ervie Deloach son of Joseph D. Deloach. This family is well documented from the 1880 to 1930 Census. William E. Deloach and Mollie Collins were married in Tattnall County, Georgia on December 23, 1896 by J. F. Coleman. The marriage was recorded on January 6, 1897. This is the first William listed above and the one I am interested in. By the 1910 Census William and Mollie have split and Mollie is married to J W Dyess (Dice) A futher marriage Record shows W. E. Delaoch married Ruby McCurdy in Tattnall County, Georgia on September 13, 1918. This is possibly the second William. The second William dies in 1923. The death certificate shows W. E. Deloach died on 1 January 1923 in Glennville, Tattnall County, Georgia. His parents are listed as J. D. Deloach and Matilda Rogers. W. E. is listed as married, but no wife's name is entered. He was born in 1876 and was 47 years, 1 month and 27 days old. The certificate was attested to by T. C. Deloach If they are two different men no futher record of the first William E has been found. Any information on either of these William E. Deloachs that can help determine if they are the same man or what happened to the first William E would be appreciated.
