    1. [DELOACH-L] WW I DeLoach
    2. Also found these three men who served in World War I, info about the records are below: Delaoch John 1890 Elizabethton, TN 13 Deloach Henry 23 Carter Co., TN Wounded 76 Deloach Walter Carter Co., TN Dead 90 The data contained in this site was taken from Record Group 36, the compiled service records of soldiers and sailors who served in the First World War from Tennessee. Information on individual servicemen and women came from the files of Major Rutledge Smith, Chairman of the National Council of Defense for Tennessee, World War I; from the office of the Adjutant General of Tennessee, 1933-1937; and from the report of the Provost Marshal General to the Secretary of War, 1917-1918. The records were compiled pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution No. 76, Public Acts of 1919, and were received and stored by the Tennessee State Library and Archives in accordance with Chapter No. 301, Public Acts of 1937. They also include information about those who were killed in service. Further information about their deaths can be found in the Gold Star records at the State Library and Archives. The fields show--in order from left to right--the serviceman's name, age or year of birth, birthplace, notes, and page number in the original volume. The data is arranged by county. It should be noted that additional information regarding the soldier's rank, training, dates of service, discharge, etc. can be obtained from the microfilmed records in Record Group 36. Copies of an individual service record, as well as copies and searches of other World War I collections, can be ordered from TSLA. For ordering instructions, please see the webpage for ordering military records by mail.

    1. [DELOACH-L] Josiah DeLoach
    2. I just stumbled on this info. For anyone wanting further info about him, the descriptions of this record is below: *** DeLooch, Josiah Shelby Allowed This is from an index listing Tennesseans who filed claims with the Southern Claims Commission from 1871 to 1873. These 3,929 Tennesseans claimed their property had been taken by United States military personnel for use in the Civil War. The claim files include interesting detail about people and about the Civil War period in Tennessee. Each claimant was required to describe his losses in detail, and to prove his loyalty to the Union. Witnesses gave testimony in support of his allegations. The paperwork in the files is often extensive. All of the Southern Claims Commission files are located at the National Archives, but the disallowed and barred claim files have been microfilmed and are also available at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Allowed claim files are available only by consulting the National Archives. This index is based on volume 55 of Record Group No. 56, General Records of the Department of the Treasury, at the National Archives. It is duplicated on National Archives microcopy M-87, reel 13. The indication as to whether the claim was allowed, disallowed, or barred is based on the book Southern Loyalists in the Civil War : the Southern Claims Commission by Gary B. Mills (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1994). If you wish to order a copy of a barred or disallowed claim file, e-mail the Tennessee State Library and Archives and request a price quote. The cost will depend on the length of the file.

I was separated from my father at 1 or 2 years of age. My father's name is Charles DeLoach. He is from Louisiana. I have two half-siblings (Michael and Michelle) who were probably born between the years of 1959-1963. Any information would be helpful. Also, if I get additional information, I will pass it on to you. Thank you, Laura DeLoach Barnett

    3. - In my research today of my DeLoach line, I have found where there were some DeLoach and Crawford marriages. This information is an '"extract" from a book by Joseph Earle Steadman " DESLOGES FAMILY" 1981. CARRIE DELOACH, (dau of John Deloach, b. 1836) born 1868 married WILL CRAWFORD ( John DeLoach family listed in 1880 Edgefield Co. SC census) Thomas DeLoach (e) (ca 1799; 1861) married Miss MARY CRAWFORD abt 1820(ca 1805-ca 1826) & settled in Edgefield Co SC where they appeared in 1820 census . Mary who bore him 2 children, was the dau of JAMES & TIRZA (Hagood )CRAWFORD. EDWARD DELOACHE (ca1820-1864) was son of Thomas & MARY CRAWFORD Deloach. If anyone has a CRAWFORD-DELoach connection, will you please get in touch with me? Wanda wrtracy@juno.com

    2. Since Mary Boykin married Samuel DeLoach and their daughter Millie married William Bloodworth, Sr., I thought someone on this list might be able to help me on a puzzle. The 1850 Sumner County TN census lists a family in Civil Distric 15, #917 as follows Boyakin, Lemuel [Samuel] 45m SC Boyakin, Delila [Deborah] 28f TN Boyakin, Jobe 11m TN Boyakin, James W. H. 8 f TN Boyakin, Amanda E. 6 f TN Boyakin, Benjamin 5 m TN Boyakin, Lemuel S. 1 m TN Boyakin, Matthew J. 50m TN Johnson, Elizabeth 85f VA My interest is in Elizabeth Johnson. Does anyone know who she is? Is she the widow of John B. Johnson. Is she the mother of Thomas Johnson, Chapman Johnson, and Maria B. Johnson? John B. Johnson died between 1814 and 1815, and Thomas Bloodworth sold 25 acres of land to his widow Elizabeth Johnson in accordance with a verbal agreement made between Thomas Bloodworth and John B. Johnson in 1814. Does anyone know her maiden name? Thanks for any information you may have. Joyce

    1. [DELOACH-L] Cornelius Wilson DeLoach - CORRECTION
    2. surchin
    3. I was excited to have a possible cousin calling me and guess I heard it wrong. Anyway, here is the corrected information: Suzi's great-grandfather is Cornelius Wilson DELOACH, b. 5 Sep 1870, d. 4 Jan 1951 and his wife is Susan Gracy HANSON. Ottie Mae (DELOACH) BRATTON is their daughter and Suzi's grandmother. C. W. DeLoach's death certificate indicates that he was born in LA; his occupation was retired farmer, LA; his father was Aaron DeLoach. We believe the Aaron DeLoach to be Aaron Thomas DeLoach, b. 13 Mar 1837 in Crawford Co, GA and died after 1910. Thank you, Tim Carter

    3. Tim, If it is Aaron Thomas b. 1837, then this would be from my family line, he was a twin to Miriam Frances who married James A. Holland. I have a little info for Suzi and I would like to get in touch with her. Does she have email? Snail mail address? I am interested.
