    2. Lynette Kelly
    3. Hello everyone, I just returned from a trip to Georgia/Florida. I was able to visit Canoochee Cemetery, Brewton Cemetery, Bay Branch Cemetery, and Anderson Cemetery. I took some digital pictures and have a few on a family website that I am in the process of making and I have a DeLoach page started (please remember that it is under construction). It's at www.erols.com/lkelly/Kelly.htm <http://www.erols.com/lkelly/Kelly.htm> if any of you would like to visit. Javan Michael, I hope that you don't mind, but I put a link to your site on there. :-) To Mike Durrence: You had mentioned in an e-mail that an ancestor of yours, Ophelia Durrence, had married William Henry Bazemore, Jr. He was my grandmother's older brother and is buried at Bay Branch Cemetery not far from his parents. Have you been there? William and Ophelia have a baby buried next to them. Check out my website and I have started a Bazemore page there as well with some pictures. God Bless, Lynette DeLoach Kelly

    3. Dear Cherie, Do you have a copy of the original or a zerox copy? In Mr Steadman's book he mention's that I am working on the THOMAS DELOACH line which was not true. I did not want to tell him so at that time as he was an elder gentleman. I did not think it was too important but now I realize that it was. as his book has been accepted by many people researching the Deloach line. It is a beautiful documented book but mainly his wife's line. I am from SAMUEL JR and my line is JESSE , a son of SAMUEL and JERUSHA who left Tenn and settled in Wilkinson County Mississippi. 3. Dear Gloria, Several years ago, I edited a book on cemeteries of Greene County Ala compiled by Mrs MARY MARSHALL, the local historian. My book was indexed so I was able to scan for your family. No Deloachs were found, However, there was an earlier book ,"GREENE COUNTY ALABAMA RECORDS: 1960 by MARY MARSHALL and ELIZABETH WOODS THOMAS. This book was not indexed and it will take time for me to scan through the 150 pages or so. If I find anything I will email you the results. Are you also researching the CHRISTOPHER line? If so you might be interested in a R G CHRISTOPHER that received a Land Patent on June 14, 1820 and he was also in the 1830 Green County census. 2. Found this on the TN Archives page, see the last line of this message for Josiah... This index lists Tennesseans who filed claims with the Southern Claims Commission from 1871 to 1873. These 3,929 Tennesseans claimed their property had been taken by United States military personnel for use in the Civil War. The claim files include interesting detail about people and about the Civil War period in Tennessee. Each claimant was required to describe his losses in detail, and to prove his loyalty to the Union. Witnesses gave testimony in support of his allegations. The paperwork in the files is often extensive. All of the Southern Claims Commission files are located at the National Archives, but the disallowed and barred claim files have been microfilmed and are also available at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Allowed claim files are available only by consulting the National Archives. This index is based on volume 55 of Record Group No. 56, General Records of the Department of the Treasury, at the National Archives. It is duplicated on National Archives microcopy M-87, reel 13. The indication as to whether the claim was allowed, disallowed, or barred is based on the book Southern Loyalists in the Civil War : the Southern Claims Commission by Gary B. Mills (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1994). If you wish to order a copy of a barred or disallowed claim file, e-mail the Tennessee State Library and Archives and request a price quote. The cost will depend on the length of the file. DeLooch, Josiah Shelby Co., TN Allowed
