My husbands great grandfather's name was James DeLoach. He was orphaned when he was a small boy. Family lore has it because his family was raided by indians and his parents and siblings were all killed. I believe the man that took him in was named Thomas O'Connor. They lived in Victoria, TX. He married and had several children the only ones I know of are the two youngest. Dougan Dennis Deloach was born September 18, 1891 and died April 5 or 6, 1962. He is buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. He has a sister named Francis that married a Galahart and she is buried there also. I have quite a few notes to type in after our vacation down to visit family. I have them scattered here there and yonder. Susan Couch

    3. Can anyone help Donna: I am researching the Lassiter family of Northampton County, NC. Jesse Lassiter's daughter Nancy is believed to have married a DeLoach and possibly migrated to Sumner County, TN in the late 1700's or early 1800's, as many of the other Northampton Lassiters did. Her sister Tabitha married Abraham Rogers. In the 1794 Sumner Co. tax roll Abraham Rogers is living near John and Ruffin DeLoach. If you have any data on Nancy and her husband I will gladly exchange info. Thanks for your time. Donna Lassiter Jackson <mailto:dlasterj@pex.net>dlasterj@pex<mailto:dlasterj@pex.net>.net

    3. I have exchanged a couple of message with Jane Peyrouse <jpeyrouse@home.com> concerning the family of Benjamin DeLoach. We are trying to determine if there is proof that Benjamin was the son of William DeLoach->Thomas DeLoach->Michel DesLoges. If anyone has found a source for this connection, please let us know. Jane made an abstract of Benjamin's Will, and also provided the following information: This is an abstract that I made after reading the will in Courtlands, VA, in 1996. Benjamin's will was signed 6 Jan 1785 and presented 10 Feb 1785. Will Book 1, Southampton Co., VA, p. 91. In it he asked that his just debts be paid. He lends his estate to his wife Ann for support and maintenance of Mary Deloach, Allen Deloach, Martha Deloach and Thomas Deloach, born "before my intermarriage with my said wife Ann." Together with my other children Avenilla, Ann, and Elisabeth born since the intermarriage with my said wife as also such other child or children as may survive me, the amount of which to each child I desire may be directed and controlled by my executors and I desire that they may superintend the education of said children. 3 After the determination of my wife's estate as aforesaid, I give, devise, and bequeath all my lands that I may die seized and possessed of to be equally divided between my sons Allen and Thomas as above described. With such other sons as may survive me to them and their heirs forever, and I direct that my executor make such division between them at the marriage or death of my wife. I direct and require my esecutors to sell all my estate (except my lands) and the money arising to be equally divided between my children as above described and such other children as may survive at my death. The division to be made by my executors. 5. If my esecutors think it is necessary during the life of my wife to sell any part of my ersonal estate for the education of my children, I hereby empower them to do so. Lastly, I hereby appoint RichdKello, the elder, and Samuel Kello the executors of this my last will and testamentt. Witnesses: Rich J. Bailey and Rich Kello, jurat. The inventory of his estate taken 28 Feb 1785, shows household good for a man of substance, including slaves, horses, sheep, furniture, books. Inventory taken by Rich'd Bailey, Franklin Clar, Boaz Guin Summorell. I descend from his daughter Mary who married Elias Love 25 Sept 1786. (Southampton Co.,VA, Marriage Book.) I have not followed the other DeLoach children except for Allen who married Mille Oney 18 Dec 1790--and that was because of the Oney connection. Benjamin, the son of Mary DeLoach and Elias Love, married Elizabeth (Teliza?)Oney 16 March 1814.---I haven't been able to show who her parents were either. The daughter Elizabeth of Mary and Elias married Robert Exum. Elizabeth was probably born in 1790; Benjamin in 1793. Mary and Elias apparently separated and Elias spent the remainder of his life with Sopphiah Baisden by whom he had nine Baisden children to whom he left his property with the exception of $20 that Benjamin was to receive upon the death of Sopphiah and a bed and furnishings left to Elizabeth.
