    1. Re: [DELAWARE] Rose Hill
    2. Well, I've also heard there was a Rose Hill School District, but where was Rose Hill in 1849? Is there a map that dates from then that would show it? Thanks, Betty

    3. Betty, Louis McLane was from Smyrna (Kent County), Delaware. Although he served Delaware well, I believe that by 1849, Mr. McLane was living in Baltimore.I have a copy of the Pomeroy and Beers Atlas of the State of Delaware, published in 1868. That atlas does not show a Rose Hill near Eden Park in New Castle County, Delaware. It does show a Rose Hill estate west of Smyrna. The 1868 owner is T. Foxwell, I think. I believe that Dr. Monroe wrote a biography of Louis McLane. That might provide further clues. Rose Hill does not appear to be a rare name. Bob S.
