Hello All! I am attempting to research any and all information regarding Theodore Maurice, b. c. 1725 in England and d. aft. 1785, in England. He was appointed a justice of the peace in 1769 in New Castle County. An according to Scharf's History of Delaware these are the appointments he was given: Kent County: Nov. 1. 1764 Oct. 28, 1769 Apr. 10, 1773 New Castle County: Apr. 1, 1755, Recorder and again in 1764 Feb. 26, 1755, Register of Wills and again in 1766 Apr. 10, 1756, Dedimus Postestatems Nov 1, 1764, Justice of the Peace Theodore Maurice left Delaware in 1778, under a flag of truce to a British warship and left for England where he resided for some years. He had a son, James, possible born in Delaware or Philadelphia c. 1770 or 1769. James is my 4th great grandfather. He may have also had a son, Richard, baptized at Immanuel Church in New Castle in either 1764 or 1765. Any info that anyone can give me will be most appreciated. Thank you! Mary Stuart King msking1025@aol.com P.S. His name appears on many wills, but trying to find evidence of his marriage(?) or his children is difficult. Thanks for any help.
