Jonathan S(amual) Johnston was born 16 May 1833, Delaware (I'm assuming). He had at least one brother, William M. Johnston, born 2 December 1829. Some of his paper work says Delaware, some shows England and still others show elsewhere. According to the cemetery records we have on Jonathan, his father's name was Joseph and he too was born in Delaware. The Delaware part of it I don't think is correct because of something I found on another record from William's family. However, it is possible. At this point, I just don't know. No mother was listed, however, Hanna (Hannah) could be her name. I do not know this for fact though. What I need then, is a census that possibly shows a head of house hold named Joseph with a child named William and one named Jonathan. There could be other children but at this point I don't know. Is there a census record for that time period? Would someone be willing to look it up for me? This has been a major brick wall for me and I would love to find that one piece I need. Are there birth certificates for this time period as well? I am sorry to say that I don't have any county. All I have is paper work showing Delaware.
