    3. Hi Listers: Seeking information on my grandfather: Bernard GUSBERG whom I cannot locate on the 1900 census although I have him in Newark, N.J. in 1897 (when my mom, Clara was born) and I also have him in the 1905 census of Newark, N.J. and the 1920 census. With his first wife DINA, they had the following children: Morris (who married his step-sister, Lena Gelfand); Bessie (Mrs. Morris Gerber); Pauline (Mrs. Sam Gottlober); David (who married Becky Meyer of NYC); and Clara (my mom, Mrs. Peter McCue) Sometime after 1898 when DINA died, Bernard married widow, Rose (nee Rachel Kusis) Gelfand who had three daughters, all born in Russia. The aforementioned Lena and Minnie (Mrs. Harry Glatt) and Pauline (Mrs. Mo Gold). peter19252000@juno.com 9/5/02

    1. [DEKENT] Vital Records in NJ
    2. Good morning lists, I'm posting this info because I think it is of great importance & interest to us in bordering states, who may be doing genealogy research in NJ. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) The New Jersey Dept. of Health (just since August 1) has relaxed the restrictions on getting some vital records again!! Check out the NJ Dept. of Health, Vital Records website: http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/vital.htm. You can get a copy of their brand new application form there. You can get the application in an Adobe format or in a Word document. As of August 1 - births over 80 years old are considered "genealogical" and the application form states that "you need only supply the name of the individual recorded on the vital record, the county where the event occurred, and the year the event occurred." The same is true for Marriages over 50 years old and Deaths over 40 years old. The copies will be uncertified copies and will be stamped "For Informational Purposes Only." They also promise to do searches of multiple years again as long as the records fall into the "genealogical" category. This is a major improvement over the recent restrictions and should make life much simpler for us all. You do need to submit a photocopy of your photo ID with your application -- or "two approved non-photo IDs." Merrilee: Also, if you are local - Birth records through 1923 are available on microfilm at the NJ State Archives and you can look at them yourself for free. (Copies there are 50 cents.)

    1. [DEKENT] George Collins Family
    2. Mark Christy
    3. Hello everyone, George and Ruth Collins are located on the 1880 Census living in Smyrna DE. I'm interested in any information on the 1870 and 1860 Census as well as any other information regarding the family. I have my suspicions that Ruth Collins may have been part of the BOSTICK family, as that name shows up later, quite often in my family. Any information anyone can provide on the family of George Collins, Smyrna DE. would be helpful. Thanks so much, -- Mark Christy Other DE names: RICHARDSON, New Castle Co.: HALL, Kent Co.: CHRISTY, New Castle Co. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [DEKENT] From List Mom - If you are changing E-Mail Addresses.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, With so many of you changing e-mail address I figured it was time to send instructions as to how to remove yourself from one address and then subscribe again with the new one. I have over 50 messages asking me to do this for members. If you know in advance that your e-mail address is going to change go to Password Central http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ ask for a list of all the Mailing Lists you are subscribed to. Don't forget to submit your request at the bottom of the page. When you get your e-mail in about 1 minute you need to print it out so you know what lists you belonged to so you can re-subscribe. From the e-mail you can unsubscribe yourself from any or all of the mailing lists. or Just send the word UNSUBSCRIBE to NAMEOFLIST-L-@ROOTSWEB.COM (Change NAMEOFLIST to the name of the list and change L to D if you are on the Digest List) When you are ready to re-subscribe all you need to do is send the word SUBSCRIBE to NAMEOFLIST-L-@ROOTSWEB.COM (Change NAMEOFLIST to the name of the list and change L to D if you want to subscribe to the Digest List.) If you loose your e-mail address and are unable to unsubscribe yourself, then let me know and I will help. You can re-subscribe yourself to the list with the above instructions. I appreciate your help and thank each of you for helping to make our list the success it is.

    3. I should have said the index contains no Knotts, but I have no reason to doubt the index. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob KNOTTS" <raknotts@qwest.net> To: <DEKENT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 01, 2002 9:06 PM Subject: Re: [DEKENT] Churches in QA,Caroline, and Kent cos MD, and Kent co DE, 1700-1850 > Hi, Dick. 3. Hi, Dick. It doesn't seem to be complete. There was an Absalom KNOTTS, b 1746 in Kent DE., who is pretty famous to DE/MD KNOTTS'. He went to WV in 1780 and started the WV KNOTTS'. I think half the KNOTTS in the U.S. are descended from him (well, a whole bunch, anyway). His father was Robert KNOTTS, b ca 1725, QA co, where my family was. Thanks for checking. 3. The book, "Vital Records of Kent and Sussex Counties Delaware 1686-1800" contains no Knotts entry. All records are not necessarily birth, marriage & death, so this doesn't really eliminate all these churches for you. Note the 1800 cut-off date. The chapters are: 1. Extracts from Duck Creek Monthly [i.e., Quaker] Minutes 1705-1800 2. Duck Creek Monthly Meeting - Births, Deaths and Marriages, 1686-1800 3. Vital Records from Murderkill and Duck Creek Monthly Meetings 4. St. George's Protestant Episcopal, Indian River 5. Lewes and Coolspring Presbyterian Church 6. Subscribers of Blackwater Presbyterian church, near Frankford 7. Pew Holders of St. Peter's Protestant Episcopal Church, Lewes, 1789 8. Prince George's Church, Sussex County (Dagsboro) 9. Gleanings by Rev. C. H. B. Turner (includes fragments from St. John the Baptist, near Milton) Beyond that, the BARRATT and BARRAT names occur several times, but there are no William nor Margaret BARRATTs, and the families listed seem to be Quaker. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob KNOTTS" <raknotts@qwest.net> To: <DEKENT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 01, 2002 12:20 PM Subject: [DEKENT] Churches in QA,Caroline, and Kent cos MD, and Kent co DE, 1700-1850 > Can anyone tell me what churches existed in Queen Annes, Caroline, and Kent cos MD, and Kent co DE between abt 1740 and 1850? I'm looking for information on my gg-grandfather Andrew Levi KNOTTS' parents and family, and the marriage of my g-grandfather, William KNOTTS, b 1805, QA co to Margaret M BARRATT. I would think that WM and Margaret would have been married in BARRATT's Chapel, as Margaret's grandfather, Col. William BARRATT, donated the land for the church. Andrew was b ca 1770, QA co. I'd like to know who was the minister/priest of these churches when they ceased to function, and what was done with their records. Thank you. Bob KNOTTS, PHX, AZ

HAYWOOD MILTIMORE BUFFINGINGTON If anyone is interested, please let me know and I will send the scan 4 page tif, 3.57mb. ---------------------------------------- Looking for: My 3G grandfather Peter TINSMAN and his wife Elizabeth moved to reading in 1856 and went into retail lumber until about 1867 when he returned to Williamsport, Lycoming County. Five of his six children (Robert, Ella, Washington, Thomas and Mary) were born here in this timeframe and I am looking for anything on the family in this area as it a blur to me. I am unable to locate any of these children in the online searchable Reading birth records. Is there an online newspaper index I can search or something of that nature? Any ideas, info., greatly appreciated. c Thanks, Nick
