    1. [DEKENT] Fw: Fw: Samuel Edward Cole photo
    2. Peter B McCue
    3. Dear Friends: For many years I have been trying to locate a photo of my mother's first husband who was born in Cherry Hill (Cecil Co., MD.) in 1885 to James & Mary (nee Drennen) Cole. I am searching for: SAMUEL EDWARD COLE (or Edward Samuel) of Newark, DE. He was a member of the Concordia Hill Lodge No. 67, F. and A. M. of Philadelphia in the early and mid 1900s and an officer in the Knights of Pythias. A member of the Methodist Church of Newark and a volunteer fireman. He died in Newark, DE. in June 1940 while living with his sister Ida (Mrs.Wm. ) Morrison of 28 Choate St., Newark. Samuel Cole was a well-known employee of the Curtis Paper Mill and he and my mother, Clara, lived at 48 No. Chapel St., in 1918. Any help or suggestions you can offer would be much appreciated and a reward paid. Thank you. Peter B. McCue 14 Orchard Place East East Hanover, N.J. 07936-1555 peter19252000@juno.com

    1. [DEKENT] Affidavits & Cemeteries?
    2. Hi list, In the past, I have always asked, at the cemetery office, who pays for the perpetual care or for the upkeep of the graves. This helps you find other relatives, (mostly ones still living). Of course I would ask who purchase the lot & who now owns it. Now, I know to ask for affidavits, too! :) I sent to Woodlawn Cemetery, in the Bronx, for records. When I received the info I received something I never thought of pertaining to the owners of cemetery lots -- affidavits. The affidavits show who the cemetery lots were handed down to through the family -- giving the person's name(s) & relationships. Interesting! With genealogy you learn something new all the time. :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

By 1919 the Coles were no longer living together. 1. [DEKENT] New Genealogy Info -- a new service available!
    2. Hi lists, I just received a copy of a death certificate, today, from: New York Department of Records & Information Services Office of the Commissioner 31 Chambers Street, Suite 305 New York, NY I also received a letter, with it, stating they have photographic records of every house & building from circa 1939-1941 in New York City. They go on to say, this would be a very unique gift for any one interested in genealogy - family history. If you have the exact street address and/or block & lot number for the building you will be able to order a photo. $25.00 for 8" x 10" $35.00 for 11" x 14" plus postage (high-quality black & white prints) I think this is really great that you can obtain a photo of the family home or business. If NYC is doing this you may want to look for other cities & towns across the US, who may have the same service available. :) To those of you who are interested in New York City & this service: Phone: (212) 788-8580 Website: www.nyc.gov/html/doris Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

    1. [DEKENT] Mystery Fleetwood from Delaware
    2. I am researching the following Fleetwood family. I need help trying to correctly identify the given name(s) of the Fleetwood man who married Susan C. Scott between 1868 and 1880. ? Fleetwood (b. ?; d. ?) married Susan C. Scott [b. 2-11-1852 (or '54, or "61, or '62 -- records vary); d. 11-11-1927, Milford, DE; bur. I.O.O.F., Milford, Kent Co., DE] Children of ? Fleetwood & Susan C. Scott: 1. Ida May Fleetwood (b. 9-5-1880, Milford, DE; d. 5-29-1943, Milford, Sussex Co., DE; bur. 6-2-1943, I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Milford, Kent Co., DE). Married on 12-26-1897 to: George Joseph Still (b. 9-22-1873 or maybe 1874, DE; d. 7-21-1952, M ilford, Sussex Co., DE; bur. 7-23-1952, I.O.O.F., Milford, Kent Co., DE). 2. Minnie Fleetwood (b. 4-17-1884, Milford, DE; d. 7-21-1957, Milford, DE; bur. I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Milford, Kent Co., DE). Married Harry Lee Hill (b. 8-14-1882, DE; d. 3-7-1955, Milford, DE; bur. I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Milford, Kent Co., DE). 3. Harry Benjamin "Mike" Fleetwood (b. 12-23-1891, Milford, DE; d. 1-17-1968, Blades, Sussex Co., DE; bur. Blades Cemetery, Blades, Sussex Co., DE) Note: The following children are listed in the Ida May (Fleetwood) & George Joseph Still's family Bible as siblings of Ida May. There is reason to believe that ? Fleetwood married twice, so it is not certain that Susan C. Scott was their mother. No information is known about them except their names. 4. William Fleetwood 5. James Fleetwood 6. George Fleetwood 7. Mary E. Fleetwood Also, buried with Susan C. (Scott) Fleetwood is Elizabeth Fleetwood (b. 1899; d. 1911). Is Elizabeth Susan's and ?'s daughter? Is it possible that she is Mary E. Fleetwood? There is no evidence to support that possibility except that there is no Elizabeth listed as a sibling of Ida May in the family Bible; perhaps Mary E. was Mary Elizabeth. Now, on to the mystery regarding the given name(s) of ? Fleetwood. Ida May (Fleetwood) Still's granddaughter's family Bible listed her great-grandfather (Ida May's father) as Curtis Fleetwood. Ida May's death certificate lists her father as Jehamara Fleetwood based on information provided by her daughter Jennie Minerva (Still) Clarke. Minnie (Fleetwood) Hill's death certificate lists her father as William Fleetwood based on information provided by her daughter Myrtle May (Fleetwood) Reedy. Harry's ("Mike's") death certificate lists his father as Morrow Fleetwood based on information provided by his daughter Katharine (Fleetwood) Stair. All of these sources list Susan C. Scott as his wife. Is it possible that there are other Fleetwood researchers out there who can help us determine what the actual given name(s) of this member of the Fleetwood family is (are)? Thanks for any help you can muster! Karen Carter Minneapolis
