Hi list, I sent out a query the other day regarding the following: << Is anyone doing research on Chas. E. SEYMOUR of Talbot Co., MD? I'm very interested in how he is related to my Elizabeth DRAPER of Caroline Co., MD. Denton Journal: Saturday, 13 May 1916 Mrs. Elizabeth DRAPER, of Goldsboro is visiting her nephew, Mr. Chas. E. SEYMOUR, in Easton. >> I have since found info posted -- Charles E. SEYMOUR, was b. 1869, in MD & his parents were George H. SEYMOUR, b. Nov 1827 in Talbot Co., & Irene (Arena) CALLAWAY, b. Jan 1832-44 (Sussex Co.?), DE. They m. in 1859 but I don't know where! Could anyone do a lookup for their marriage for me please? I have searched Talbot Co. marriage records but found nothing. The info posted, went on to mentioned Irene (Callaway) SEYMOUR, d. 13 Aug 1913 & was buried in 15 Aug 1913 in Easton Cemetery. When someone refers to Easton Cemetery do they mean Springhill Cemetery? Irene's parent's were Samuel CALLAWAY & Elizabeth THOMPSON. Irene maybe my Elizabeth (Callaway) HITCH DRAPER's sister, b. 7 Aug 1832-35. I did find a Samuel CALLOWAY, living in (Laural?), Sussex Co., DE in the 1840 Census: Samuel CALLOWAY 3 males 15-20 1 male 50-60 1 female under 5 1 female 5 to 10 2 females 10-15 (Irene & Elizabeth?) 1 female 40-50 1 female 80-90 Can anyone help me, by verifying any of the above info? My main interest is in the CALLA(O)WAY - THOMPSON Lines!!! Thank you for any help or info! :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
Hello, I was wondering if anyone on the list has access to the Kent County DE Tax/Census Records for c. 1760-1800. I am looking for Philip ALEXANDER d. c. 1795 Kent Co. DE He lived in Ducks Crick One Hundred at the time of his death, according to his Probate records. Many thanks. Elaine Suhre
Dear List Members, It is time again for one of my information messages. First of all I want to thank each of you who go out of your way to follow the list rules. I belong to many lists in my research and truly feel you are the best list members out there. If you are enjoying this list and would like to know what other genealogical lists Rootsweb has for you, go to John Fuller's site located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html It is the best source for Genealogical mailing lists that I know of. If you would like to visit the archived messages for this list or any Rootsweb List you may go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com and type in the name of the list and from there you can search by date. There is a great Rootsweb site, Password Central, you can go to if you want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of or need to unsubscribe from a list, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ To unsubscribe from any Rootsweb list send only the word UNSUBSCRIBE to XXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM Naturally exchange the XXXX with the name of the list and the L with a D if you are on the Digest List. I have very few rules on the lists I take care of; the main one is to treat your fellow members as you would like to be treated, also Roll Calls will be called by me, with a beginning date and an ending date. The posting of virus warnings, chain letters, political announcements, current events and test messages are NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me, KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net Please remember that I am here, working behind the scenes. When an offending message is posted, just DELETE it. Know that I am most likely taking care of the problem personally with the person who posted the message. When you send your unhappiness to the list you just continue on the problem both for the members and for myself. If you are concerned that I have missed the message, you can send me a message at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Would you like to see the growth in the United States between 1650 and 1983? This is a great visual. I have shared it before but I am sure we have many new members since then. http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~stephan/Animation/us.gif This is your list. I am only here to take care of it for you and to make sure it runs smoothly. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to send them to me. Not sure how many of you are aware but...."Vital Statistics: change to Delaware law in 1999 provides that an adopted child may request access to their original birth certificate after age 21 if the birth parents have no paperwork on file with Family Court requesting the records remain confidential. Valda _requisite disclaimer_ Let me say first that I am not a lawyer, nor is this professional advice for which I am held accountable. :) _end requisite disclaimer_ You certainly raise valid points, and true, the law is open to interpretation, but the important thing is fair use. If you use the information consistent with the law, then there _probably_ won't be any trouble. You may find that the publisher will suggest a violation of this part of the law: (4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work when posting it publicly. When referencing something, it is important to note the source. This is good writing practice and also crucial genealogical practice. Many times, I have received information from someone from a particular source, and, recognizing the value of that source, purchased it for myself. If some kind soul hadn't done so, I may have never have known it existed let alone purchased it. So for the copyright owner - which is usually a publisher - it benefits them. For individuals posting their genealogical info online - such as you'll find on my site - it has to be remebered that it is now in the public sphere if not domain, and that someone may take your info verbatim. This is interesting as you'll find many posts to lists & newsgroups of complaints that such & such a company has taken their gedcom without permission, reprinted it on some cd or in a book, with the same exact INCORRECT information in it. So again, consider the sources - are they there. Are the lists monitored? Good question. You should think that EVERYTHING on the internet is monitored these days and that it is not only when YOU have taken the necessary steps to protect yourself. Thanks for the advice! I believe if I abstract specific information from the abstracts in the books I'll be safe? Such as page in the book, location in original records, date, X sold land to Y, witnessed by A and B, etc. I want to make sure I don't step on anyone's toes!! I've gotten quite a few requests, as I expected. I had to work today (usually my day off!) but you should all hear from me by the end of the weekend. Thanks for your patience! Hi Jean, I have done some research on the surname & given name of HOLLIDAY. Here is the very unusual situation as to the reason why: My g-grandfather Arthur John WEBBER, b. 1851 in Caroline Co., MD & was raised by William & Martha (Vaulx-Voss) WEBBER. Arthur's mother is Margaret BERRY, b. c1824 who m. Wm MEDFORD. They separate & she has Arthur fathered by Arthur John WILLIS (who is married). Margaret (Berry) MEDFORD's sister Nancy Elizabeth BERRY m. Holliday VAULX-VOSS, brother to Martha (Vaulx-Voss) WEBBER. I believe Martha & Holliday VAULX-VOSS' mother was a Martha HOLLIDAY, b. 1791 & m. James VAULX-VOSS. Would you have any info on this HOLLIDAY or VAULX-VOSS Line. Have you made any connection to "the Virginia," HOLLIDAYs & Doc HOLLIDAY?
