    2. First I will apologize to those who receive multiple postings of this as I've sent it to several maillists. I do hope, however, that you visit or have visited the site and enjoy or have enjoyed that visit. I invite you all to visit <A HREF="http://www.bitsofblueandgray.com/">Bits of Blue and Gray: An American Civil War Notebook</A> www.bitsofblueandgray.com Some of you may have read my columns on another genealogy website and I hope you'll continue to do so here. There will be the monthly feature column by me or one of my friends. There are letters from my husband's ggrandfather written home during the Civil War, poems, songs, interesting "receipts" of the time and other misc. tidbits. The Roster for the 4th DE Regiment Volunteers is also on the site. I welcome stories, letters or anything else Civil War related from anyone for consideration. If you visit, please be sure to sign the guess book. Thanks for listening, Jayne

    1. [DEKENT] Cemetery Research HELP that works
    2. Hi, I received this from another e-mail list & thought it might help someone trying to read an "old stone." Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) I have been ask to list my method of reading old cemetery stones. I use corn starch in an old thin men's sock. I fill the sock, then tap it along the face of the stone. It works great & does not damage the stone, the first rain washes it away. I keep it in a plastic bag & in a small box. I can't take credit for this process, A lady gave it over one of my e-mail list. I don't remember which, I got it one night & used it next day. Good timing <Grin> Good Luck Gayle garr@ruraltel.net

    1. [DEKENT] More FRATERNALS info!
    2. I received this from my cousin Richard BINGLER: I know Paul Bessel, he's a great resource. But remember the George Washington Masonic Memorial has an extensive library and it is open to the public. Call first to ensure that someone will be there. There is also a very, very large library at the Scottish Rite House of the Temple in Washington, DC. They have the library staffed daily, but I believe that they prefer reservations for researchers. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)

    1. [DEKENT] FRATERNALS
    2. Hi List, I received this from another mailing list & thought it was of interest to those doing genealogy research! :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) My gg grandfather was also in the Order of Redmen and I sent off for info from their main offices (located in Texas). They sent me a letter, courtesy copying the local representative in PA., and stated my gg grandfather's records would be stored in the state/locale where he was a member. The man's name is Brad Buchanan and he did write and let me know that he would look for the records when he could. That was 2 years ago. Guess I should follow up on that one - but, you may find info about the Redmen and other fraternal orgs. at the following web site. Good luck! http://www.bessel.org/fratorgs.htm
