Good Morning, I'm very appreciative this morning. When I awoke I had waiting for me on my computer an email from Celine who has emailed me a copy of Emil Verloin DeGruy's death certificate. This was in response to a previous email, that you may remember my having sent, which mentioned that I would begin to collect in a binder for now primary data and then eventually post to a web site. What I hope to do soon is to list the certificates I already have and then see how many we can fill in. I also have Judy Riffel at the La Archives starting to do work in this area.... copying certificates and sending them to me. Soon I will send a list of those records which I already have so we don't have to worry about those. It would save a lot of money and time for others to follow Celine's example; however, I do understand that this is the busiest time of year. Now here's a "methodology" question for you and I invite your opinions and comments...... What about "secondary" sources....? like the fat Albert Robichaux book with Birth, Marriage, Death records....? There are, for example, 5 or 6 records in there for Steven Degruy and his family.... The records seem to give every bit of data.... witnesses, grandparents, etc. Should we let these "count" for now and work on the records that don't appear in such data sources as Robichaux and ANOSR [Archdiocese of New Orleans Sacramental Records]......? That would save $. Or should I bite the dust and order even these documents? Isabel? Celine? Bonnie? .... all you "hard core" researchers... what do you think... Ok... gotta go get my car fixed. Renee
