I'm not going to try to transcribe the French... again handwriting which is a bit difficult to read... Here's what I have: From Immaculate Conception of Our Lady in Kaskaskia, Il. Abbreviated entry in English says: De LaCroix, Dussault s/Dussault de la Croix - chevalier of the order of St. Louis, Mayor of the town of Gap in Dauphine - & Dame Marie Francoise Borel to Marie Theres Aufrere, Widow of Antoine de Gruys, lieutenant of the troops of the marine. 18 Feb 1760 The French is a lot longer. If I ever get a full translation, I'll post it. A birth record for a Pierre Joseph who was born to Marie Therese Aufrere's second husband Abbreviated entry in English says: Dussault de la Croix, Joseph and Marie Therese Dufresne dit Michel [Aufrere?] Pierre Joseph 17 Nov 1760 born; 22 Jan 1761 baptism [Note that Marie Therese is referred to by her maiden name and not by DeGruy; however, the marraine is listed as Hyacinthe De Gruys I also have some entries for La Lande but haven't figured out if these are "our" La Landes. Keep in mind that Marie Therese Aufrere's parents were Antoine Aufrere and Marie Mathurine Guillmot dit La Lande... and Marie Maturine's parents were [I believe] : Jacques Francois Lalande Guilmot [Guillemet] and Madeline Dupont. Now there is a Jean Baptist La Lande dit Guillemot and Charlotte Marchand listed in the records of Sainte Anne Mission and Church of Fort Chartres, Illinois and they had a child named Louis born 25 Feb 1744, but I'm not sure these are definite relatives of ours... so I made the copy and will tuck it away until things become clearer Now, do any of you know exactly when Marie Therese Aufrere and her second husband [Joseph Dussault [Dusiau] de la Croix] moved back to New Orleans? When do they show up there? Also, I have as a siblings to Marie Therese Aufrere the following: Antoine Alexandre, Francois, Paul Antoine..... does anyone have anything different than this? I have as Marie Therese and Joseph Dussault De La Croix's children: Pierre Joseph, Adelaide, Balthasar. This would be in contrast to the children of Marie Therese and Antoine Valentin: Marie Francois Hyacinte, Jean Baptiste Valentin, Joseph Verloin, Antoine Dufouchard, Pierre Dumini, Marie Therese and Hortense.... This suggests that Marie Therese Aufrere had a combined total of 10 children from her two marriages. Again, does anyone have anything different? ok.. 'nuff for now. Renee
