Well today I spent a couple of enjoyable hours surfing the net using the keyword "Gruyeres"] as a focal point and I found a ton of interesting information. One web site referred to their "turf" as Heidi land! And that gave me an idea [inspired by all our recent talk of "stories" and teaching kids history. I discovered that I will be sitting my 10 year old granddaughter tomorrow night.... so I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the novel Heidi and a map of Germany/Switzerland/France..... I have plans to begin reading the novel to her and chatting with her about our Degruys and Gruyere and the cheese and the castle and the cranes.... and imagining where they lived in the beginning before they started to emigrate to France and America and ultimately, for our folks, to New Orleans! Can't wait to get started on this! Renee
