    3. Two books arrived today.... SIEGE - 1759 by Brian L. Dunnigan and MEMOIRS ON THE LATE WAR IN NORTH AMERICA BETWEEN FRANCE AND ENGLAND by Pierre Pouchot [Edited and Annotated by Brian Dunnigan]. Of course you can tell that I am searching for what happened to 6 G Grandfather Antoine Degruÿsverloin..... did he die at Fort Niagara or La Belle Famille? Was he taken prisoner by the English or by the Indians? There are many tantalizing references in these books to the Troupes de la Marine sent up North from the Illinois.... and there is even an appendix in which those who were killed are named... but nothing that might be interepreted as a reference to our Antoine. But give me some more time working with these works.... maybe I can come up with something. I had to go to the gift/bookshop of Fort Niagara to get them... could not find them listed in any library searching locally or far away through Worldcat and OCLC.... Dunnigan was the official historian for the Fort....wish I could get his email... sure would like his help with several questions I've been accumulating. When I was in New Orleans briefly, I made it to HNOC... would have gone on Friday but they were getting ready for an event... and then cleaning up after the event on Saturday... so basically the research room was only open 2 hours.... I was able to copy a few pages of AN C 13....but, according to these books from Fort Niagara, I must have missed a lot of other pages....due to the lack of time. I will search these photocopies as well. These documents should contain some information about the men who were sent to New York from the Illinois. Other matters: Today I was able to scan only about 5 death certificates of the 50 or so which I received from Judy Riffel yesterday. I've sent the scanned ones to Celine. You should begin to see them on the Degruy web site some time this week. Re the "mini" Degruy "reunion" in October... the room at the Jefferson Parish Library has been reserved, although I am still trying to get it "for free." At some point in time, I'd really appreciate hearing from everyone on Degruy-l with a yea or nay as to who will actually attend. We also need to decide what topics we'd like to address. Sure wish we could bring in a speaker to talk with us about our Antoine.... maybe for the "big" reunion which we may have some day...that is, when we get to know each other and get organized enough to pull off a "big" reunion.
