Here's a question for the group..... prefaced by a little background to set the stage.... We know that Antoine and Marie Therese Aufrere [approximately our 5th or so G Grandparents] lived in Illinois for some time, till Antoine died and Marie Therese remarried and then she and new husband, Joseph [Dussault (Dusiau) de la Croix], and the kids moved back to La. Remember also that Azelie St. Amand, who was married to Pierre Verloin DeGruy, was the daughter of Michael St. Amand and Françoise Zeringue. We also know that Françoise Zeringue was the daughter of Jean Louis Zeringue and Marie Françoise Bellair de la Croix....and Marie Françoise was the daughter of Daniel Hubert Bellair La Croix and Catherine Henri [Henry] [any relation to the notary, I wonder?]. Now set this against the following entry from Kaskaskia Under the French Regime p 109 "I suspect, although I have no definite proof, that this [Lacroix Lenoire] is one of the members of the family of Hubert dit Lacroix who lived in Illinois, and may or may not have been related to the family of François Lacroix. All I can do is list the names of those of whom there is some record..... Daniel Hubert Lacroix, Illinois trader, apparently residing in New Orleans at least part of the time, was 38 years of age in 1752 [La Hist Quart, XXI, 889]...... Marie Françoise Hubert Lacroix was sponsor at a baptism at St. Philippe October 11, 1763" I'm getting myself confused and forgetting the original question! ha ha.... Ok... so.... were the Lacroix related to us through the Zeringues also related to the La Croix family into which Marie Therese remarried????? and were all those Lacroix living in Illinois...? I'm about to give up on this one.... my brain is beginning to sprain. Renee
