There were many men, who masquaraded as Jean Lafitte, and the reason was in the event that the Federal authoritires ever raidied oen of thier hideouts, the business would continue as well as the authorities would get so confused with so many people saying, he is Jean Laftitte, no, he is Jean Lafitte, and no one would truly know the physical idenity of Jean Lafitte.
