Hi Sarah, Adding to our good cousin, Bonnie Bess' info, I would think your Henry Forno's blacksmith shop, at that time, was located on Girod Street, between Church Street and St. Charles Ave. The blacksmith location is now in the 600 block of Girod Street. His residence (or domicile) was at Bacchus (now Baronne), between Calliope and Triton Walk (now Howard Avenue). This info was gleaned from John Churchill Chase's "Frenchmen,Desire, Good Children (and other Streets of New Orleans)" Third Edition, 1979. An interesting study of the origination of (and changes to) the Streets of New Orleans. Coincidentally, is there any relationship or connection with your Henry Forno and the Henry Forno, a former New Orleans Chief of Police, who served as a Colonel with the 5th Louisiana Infantry? Just curious! The listing is for Henry Forno (father-in-law of Marie Zelina DeGruy) and indicates the following: blacksmith shop 150 Girod, d. Bacchus b. Calliope and Triton Walk I can't make sense of this location. I am guessing the d. is dwelling? Also, I cannot find any info about the location of Triton Walk. Any insight that list members can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
