    3. Bonnie, I have that Joseph Darcourt Planchard was married twice-to sisters. Philomene Aide [Margaret] Dufouchard DeGruy in 1901 then Josephine in 1912. The children are from his first wife. 3. Renee, the name Heuxel appears in Pierre Nogues' death certificate. He was not a deGruy but was married to one, Elise Louise duFouchard Verloin deGruy, the youngest sister of Celine deGruy, sp. Seuzeneau; Leonide deGruy, sp. Baudier, and Doralice deGruy, sp. Boutte, among other siblings. Their parents were (Thomas) Antoine Benoit duFouchard Verloin deGruy & (Marie) Josephine Stephanie de Mole Guerin. [BTW, these are Helen & I's common grandparents as well.] These were extremely close siblings. Lots of consanguine relationships. Note below that Nogues worked for Seuzeneau. Also, Pierre Huxelle deGruy was 1st married to (Julie) Eveline Boutte, sister of Philemon Boutte (husband of Doralice deGruy) and Elodie Boutte, sp. Baudier (son of Leonide deGruy & Baudier) Death Certificate info: Name: Pierre Felix Heuxel Nogues, Age: 30 yrs, Death Date: 14 Jun 1852, Color: W, Page: 206 Volume: 13. MILITARY BURIAL.--Several companies of the legion turned out last evening to honor the memory of a deceased comrade, Pierre Nogues, and to pay the last solemn rites to his remains. He was 1st lieutenant of company 6, and was well known as Secretary of the Third Municipality Council, and former clerk of Recorder Seuzeneau. Times Picayune. Jun 17, 1852. P1. ~Bonnie

    3. Sorry... hurrying... forgot to give the source title for the book quoted below: New Orleans as it was: Episodes of Louisiana life By Henry C. Castellanos A quick look at Google produced this interesting little tidbit [note it is the plain text version of a page image, so may contain errors]: "It was on the 7th of April, 1831, nearly nine months since the overthrow of the Bourbons, that the French ship Zelia, from Bordeaux, moored at her wharf opposite the Cathedral. She was the first French vessel which had made her appearance at our port since the glorious achievement which, to use the jargon of the period, had "restored to France her liberty and independence." Agreeably to a resolution adopted by a number of citizens, the battalion of artillery fired a salute of 101 guns in honor of the new flag. Nor was the banquet forgotten. It went off, of course, with the /Sclat /usual on such occasions and with an appropriate accompaniment of toasts and speeches. The " Parisienne " was sung in the midst of clashing goblets, and the succulent viands were literally devoured in commemoration of the event. On the day that the ship was about to leave port, on her homeward voyage, a large delegation of Frenchmen, headed by Messieurs Auguste Douce and Pierre Nogues, escorted Mr. Claiborne to the vessel. On crossing the gangway leading to the deck, the plank being extremely narrow, Mr. Nogues, who was carrying a magnificent silk flag, tumbled over into the river; but the water being shallow and the flag bearer very tall, the pretty and costly emblem, a donation of our fair creoles, escaped injury, save that caused by a slight immersion in the turbid Mississippi. Mr. Claiborne took charge of the precious gift, as well as of the more precious parchment-engrossed "Address," and proceeded on his mission." http://books.google.com/books?pg=PA230&lpg=PA230&dq=%22Pierre%20%20Nogues%22%20%2B%20new%20orleans&sig=wWpfJzB7xufgdHeWrUwiwzLduVI&ei=jnqOTOeHIsH98Aatg-3sCw&ct=result&id=gNA-AAAAYAAJ&ots=gdnFMitbxZ&output=text

    3. I am *REALLY curious* about this one. Helen is this your comment or was it part of the obit: "(Elise or Lise) Louise DuFouchard Verloin DeGruy spouse of Pierre Huexell Felix Nogues" Now this is why I am curious: That name Huxelle [Huexell, etc] only appears twice in DeGruy history to date previous to this listing: one is my G G Grandfather Pierre Huxelle DeGruy [ 12 Mar 1817-11 Sep 1883] married to 1. Julie Eveline Boutte and 2. [to my grandmother] Marie Celilia Cunningham. We have discussed this before. The only other place the Huxelle appears is the Pierre Huxelle DeGruy [from Point Clear, Alabama] who was married to Marguerite May McKeever. This Pierre's dates are 23 Feb 1885-14 Dec 1950]. So naturally the question arises: who in the heck is Pierre Huexell Felix Nogues and how does he end up with the hard to find Huxelle middle name that we are still trying to pin down with reference to our 2 Degruys???? Is he the son of a Degruy and the allied family Nogues? Is the Huxelle affiliated with the Nogues name a mistake? Does anyone have this information at hand to share? If not, we need to go looking for it.
