Hello everyone, Do any of you know where I could find a list of all private schools and academies in New Orleans between 1930-1935? My grandfather attended a private school at the high school level in the 30's but I don't know which one. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks, Sarah _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the too busy. Hi Sarah, Adding to our good cousin, Bonnie Bess' info, I would think your Henry Forno's blacksmith shop, at that time, was located on Girod Street, between Church Street and St. Charles Ave. The blacksmith location is now in the 600 block of Girod Street. His residence (or domicile) was at Bacchus (now Baronne), between Calliope and Triton Walk (now Howard Avenue). This info was gleaned from John Churchill Chase's "Frenchmen,Desire, Good Children (and other Streets of New Orleans)" Third Edition, 1979. An interesting study of the origination of (and changes to) the Streets of New Orleans. Coincidentally, is there any relationship or connection with your Henry Forno and the Henry Forno, a former New Orleans Chief of Police, who served as a Colonel with the 5th Louisiana Infantry? Just curious! I would think that d. meant domicile in the City Directory.
