Author: jjdeer1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.deer/292/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In the decade between 1852 and the outbreak of the American Civil War, more than 100 inhabitants - men, women and children - left Wolfurt, Austria hoping to find a better life in North America. The biggest groups - families named Schneider, Flatz, Reiner, Kalb, Gasser and Fischer - emigrated in 1853. Many of them headed to the destination Fremont in Ohio. Johann Georg Dür, his spouse M. Agatha Reiner and their children Gebhard, Franz Xaver, Joseph, Katharina and Anna Maria probably belonged to one of these groups of emigrants. Does anyone know what ship these families came on from Europe ? If you can help please e mail me at jjdeer44@Gmail.com Thanks: Jerry Deer Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've started off speaking with family members, and I'm getting started with my Dad's side of the family purely because Deer is a slightly less common name than my Mum's side (Wilson!). However the information I have on that side of the family is very vague - no one can remember any further back than my Grandfather (Arthur, b. Middlesex in 1930). Where should I go from here? Can anyone help? Jo Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Elly was born 06/27/1837 and died 10/31/1871. I checked the cemetery where he is buried with his kin and see no Harts listed. Here is what the Deer family bible says. Joannah Hart, daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth Hart, was born Dec. 15, 1856 I don't see any other Harts mentioned in the bible. Hope this helps in some way. This is Michelle Hardin, oldest daughter to Van and Lois Hardin of Okemah. Dad would love to know the exact location to this cemetery (although I think he knows the general area it is in). Joe was my grandma Mary Hardin's father, Yarner was her mother and Solomon and Sealy were her brother and sister. I know we had been wanting to go and take pictures and document the area and possibly set up something to where we could get to them and take care of them and clean it up a bit. Trying to locate documentation that Joanna Hart's mother was Lizzie Deer and that her brother Elly was named guardian of her three children after her husband Edwin Hart died in the Civil War. Elly moved from Conecuh County, AL to Monroe County, AL but died at age 34. Believe Lizzie remarried after the war and Elly's guardianship ended. Does anyone have a copy of a record of such? A document was referred to by Stephen Klein in an online family tree several years ago. The document itself was not attached to Elly's record. Does anyone out there have a copy of that document?
