Marie, Once I get the deed the way I want it, I can save the image file as a jpg and then in TMG I can go to the deed tag (assuming you use TMG, if you don't, I can send better directions) and attach that image as an exhibit to the tag. Then when I do a report, I will have: "Billy Bob bought land from Sarah Smith and Rex Allen on 27 Jun 1800 in the 14th Civil District of Rutherford County, TN. The following is a transcription of that deed..." Then the plot will show. This allows my reader to see what the plot looked like. I have one family that lived in KY from 1827 to the present. I have hundreds of deeds for this family, and I hope to someday plot them all out, to show how the land changed hands over the last nearly 200 years. It just makes for interesting reading. I followed this family in the tax records to see when land changed hands, and I am now looking for the corresponding deeds. For years when the deeds don't exist, I will be able to rebuild the plots that were sold, even without the deeds, since I will know what the plot looked like before hand and after. So say I know that a man had 200 acres in 1855 and 220 in 1857, I know that sometime between there he bought 20 acres. By plotting out his land in 1857 and in 1855, I will be able to tell what that 20 acres looked like, even if I am not able to find a deed for it. That might not really have any genealogical value, but it is pretty cool, and shows that you took the time to analyze the data. Now I really wish I had more time in the day. ;( Teresa Ghee Elliott For Rutherford County TN Cemeteries www.Rutherfordcemeteries.home-page.org For TMG sentences www.tmgsentences.home-page.org -----Original Message----- From: Marie Robinson [mailto:marie50@charter.net] Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2003 1:16 PM To: cheasa@BellSouth.net Subject: RE: [DMU] Purchase and use of DeedMapper What do you mean by "attach it to TMG"?
