    3. First, can anyone tell me when counties began using tract books in addition to the more conventional single plat-type books? By tract books I mean books that show what we would now call a subdivision, a mapped collection of more or less contiguous individual plats. Second, have such mappings been useful for tracing back to the original individual plat boundaries? My main area of interest is in the Carolinas.
