OK, good. I guess I can messure the width of the street and cut from the center to the curb. > In the Text View, the input is not in fields, it's plain ASCII and so > navigation is via arrow keys (or as you said, the mouse). I just assumed a simple text editor would be part of the input routine. I know that but if these dates go into a table and that table can be sorted, what good do any of those examples do? > The scale is a viewing / printing scale not a plot scale. 2. Fred, Perhaps if you can explain what it is you are trying to do it would make your difficulties easier to understand. You can plot an area as small as 10 ft x 10 ft or larger than 25000ft X 25000 ft. and still have it displayed. You view it by using page up and page down which changes the scale. Keep in mind that the computer display can only show so much at a time. If your plat is large and you zoom in real close the plat effectively disappears, like looking too close through a microscope. Conversly if it is small and you zoom out it will become a small dot. Try entering your deed and then in the plot view press J to jump to the plat. From there press the page up key and watch the plat shrink until you hit the maximum zoom level. Repeat using the page down key and you will reach a point where the plat will be too large to display on the screen. (When that happens use the arrow keys to go right or left and you will encounter an edge.) Keep in mind though that this has nothing to do with printing the plat, just looking at it. As for the date and sorting, in the table view you can sort by any of the columns just by pressing the header. Sorting by date is done no matter which way you enter the date with the oldest deed first. If you hit the date header again it will reverse the order to be newest first. This is true of all of the headings. Again, maybe if you can explain in detail what it is you are trying to do maybe this group can be of more help. Charlotte The scale is a viewing / printing scale not a plot scale. The HOME key displays the max (31.7 feet / inch). The END key displays the minimum, 12.1 miles / inch. I'll have to try that. In my tests yesterday I couldn't get to 31.7 feet.
