Hello Again I answered my own question - This works ! I tried it with one plat so it should work with 64 plats Bill Can I do this by cutting and pasting using the WordPad or write programs ? Bill Hello, Is there a shortcut or trick for copying a group of deeds from one .mbl file to another ? EX I have 48 adjoined plats in one file that will connect to and adjoin another 64 plats in another file, is there a way to copy a group of plats so I can paste them all at once into the other file ? Thanks for your time. All, In previous post, I realized I posted only how to unsubscribe from the Digest mode (that which I receive). Most probably only have subscribed to the List mode. So, you do the same steps as noted below, use the letter L instead of the D in the mailing address. List mode: To unsubscribe from DEED-MAPPER-USERS-L, send a message to DEED-MAPPER-USERS-L-request@rootsweb.com Subject line: unsubscribe body of letter: unsubscribe (absolutely nothing else, not even a thank you, or it will not unsubscribe you! DeedMapper needs to the know the dots per inch of the image in order to scale it for you. Since you say you don't know what the number is you'll need to experiment to find it. If the image came off the internet you might try starting with 75 or 96 dpi. If it originally came off a scanner you can try 300 or 600 dpi. Plug in a number and then see whether the image is too large or too small. Change the dpi setting and look again. Repeat until the image is the right size. "Right size" is determined by looking at two features on the map that are a known distance apart, and comparing them to DeedMapper's scale. For instance, suppose you know two points on the image are 3000 feet apart. Use PgUp and PgDn keys to set DeedMapper to 1000 ft per inch. The two points should appear to be 3 inches apart on the screen. For highest accuracy you can print it out and measure it. Steve, Is it possible for you to tell me how to un-subscribe from this list. I do not own the software and signed up (somewhere) when I was looking around. Hi, Center Long. is not -81 [that is not minus]. Secondly, dots per inch is needed. See the bulletin board for how to calculate the dots per inch. Chrys

Hello Everyone, When I open deedmapper it opens in one fourth the size of my monitors screen, I have to maximize it every time I open it. Is there some quick fix so that it will open up full screen size ? I have tried changing the resolutions and screen settings and none seem to work. Its not a problem to maximize it each time just an extra step. Bill
Greetings all, I've saved (not scanned) in jpg format into my deed file folder a section of a map. I've selected View Options Image and am attempting to use the map as a background for my deed file. Should it work if I correctly fill in the blanks: Feet/in: 2400 Dots per inch (Unknown, Not needed????) Center lat: 35.31 Center long: -81.45 Degrees wide (Optional, left at 0) Degrees long (Optional, left at 0) Either it should not work, or else I've done something wrong. Help, anyone? Thanks, Gene
The program is so easy to learn. Trust me! The manual is easy to understand as is the program's Help menu. I purchased my program through the web site. When I purchased the program, although I had many deeds, I only had a couple of deeds where I wanted to see what the tracts looked like. After I learned the program, and saw what it could do, I realized other ways the program would help me. And it did help! It helped me straighten out quite a few deed mysteries! To to http://users.rcn.com/deeds/factsht.htm It will explain everything you need to know about the program Deedmapper and how it works. There are pages on there for ordering the program too, if you wish. Steve Broyles developed the program and runs the site. I have been using it successfully for a couple of years now and am very happy with it. You can enter a small or large number of deeds or grants, then drag them around and drop them trying to match up parcels for a family or a neighbhood.
I subscribed to this list hoping to learn something about using the program. I hate to appear so dumb, but what program are you using to do this? I assume it is called Deed Mapper. Well, the computer interest group I am a member of had a CD for sale at the meeting the other night. No, I didn't buy, then, because I'm not sure I can learn how to do this. Can someone give me some information about what you've purchased, or is this a site online? All help appreciated. J.H.
That's not a crazy question at all! It takes a bit of monkeying around, but you can easily relocate all of the patents onto your maps. Open up your project containing your maps and the deed pool patents. Open the Edit menu and pick Select All. This will cause all of the patents to be selected. Hold down the left mouse button and drag all 500 patents until they are more or less where they belong on the maps. Release the mouse button. After examining the resulting locations, repeat as necessary to fine tune the locations. The Brunswick file has some dummy deeds that represent the county lines. If your maps contain boundary maps just move the patents around until the dummy lines match your boundary map lines. Here is a crazy question. I've recently downloaded the Brunswick deed pool and when I merged it with my Brunswick base maps the two did not merge one-to-one. In other words, the deed data pool is off set and not on top of the base maps. Is there a way to merge the download file onto the base maps and have them mesh perfectly? Thanks Ray
When I started out, the color for text in the plot view was blue. I've changed it to be black but it only changed the text to black for everything entered from that point on. Is it possible to change the rest of the text that was previously entered when it was set for blue? Same with the Standard Plot Style--I have since turned the corners to off. Everything previous to that point, though, remains with box corners. Is it possible to change all the tracts? Marie.
