    1. [DMU] Plot View???
    2. Hi, I am a hopeless newbie with a really dumb question, I'm sure. But I'd really appreciate a little guidance. I've just got Deed-Mapper. In order to learn what I'm doing before tackling my mysterious SC relatives, I took a couple of the texts of Lunenburg Co, VA deeds for my family members which another user has kindly provided on the deed pool page and entered them as texts. I followed it very carefully and I think I did it right. I have a very nice list of Pt A) pine . . . etc all the way to Pt ) red oak with all the ln directions filled in. I can switch to Table mode and see the patent and the date and the grantee and the acreage. But when I go to Plot View I get nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. So, my question is: what am I doing wrong? Thanks, Barbara Schenck

    3. Just to confirm, I suspect there is no way to keep map annotations from moving due to map magnification? At a certain magnification, for instance, the annotation is placed correctly--zooming out, the annotation moves. Or the other way around. Is it more correct at the magnification it's created or something? Marie.

    3. Wholesale merging of deed files is probably best performed by the Notepad method Bill described. Deed files are simple text files, so you can work on them with an editor such as Notepad. Cutting and pasting of deeds works well for small-ish numbers of deeds (but note the recently reported problem with Paste on XP). 2. Steve, On this point, when you try to copy an entire deed file, like Mecklenburg, there is an error message which says the deeds group is too large for the clip board.....any suggestions? Chrys

    3. I'm afraid I've lost track of the original question on this thread, but it sounds like you're trying to copy multiple deeds from one project to another. 1. Start DeedMapper 2. Open the deed file you want to copy from. 3. Open the deed file you want to copy to 4. Open the Window menu. Select Cascade. You can now see the two deed files in separate windows. Arrange the two windows to your liking. 5. Click on the window of the deed file you want to copy from. Go to the Plot View. 6. Find the plots you want to copy. Click on one of them. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on any others you want to copy. 7. Open the Edit menu and select Copy. 8. Click on the window of the deed file you want to copy to. Go to the Plot View. 9. Open the Edit menu and select Paste. The pasted deeds may not end be visible to you, or they might not be in the right location. Bring them to your mouse by holding down the left mouse button for a second. You can then drag them to the desired location. I hope this helps! 3. My method for Win XP follows 1- Go to your .mbl file with the deeds you wish to copy >open it with Word Pad (a MS text editor)and copy the deeds you want to paste. 2- Go to the .mbl file you wish to paste into > open it with Word Pad >scroll to the end of the document and place you cursor at the very end of the document and paste the deeds > save this file (same name or new name is your preference). 3- Close both files 4- Open Deed Mapper and open the file into which you pasted your deeds and there they are ! All together in the same file.

Bill Hello, Is there a shortcut or trick for copying a group of deeds from one .mbl file to another ? EX I have 48 adjoined plats in one file that will connect to and adjoin another 64 plats in another file, is there a way to copy a group of plats so I can paste them all at once into the other file ?
