Let me explain why. My g(3x)-grandfather Tunis Decker lived in Gilboa, Schoharie County, NY. I have been unable to determine who his parents were. Cynthia ([email protected], a subscriber to this list, too) told me: On page 262 of the Decker Genealogy by Benton Weaver Decker there is a Theunis (the only one in the entire book) b. 1768 and bpt in Shawangunk, Ulster Co., NY. This is definately the Hudson Valley. The book gives no month or day but the bpt. code is S# 572. This fellow is the son of Joshua DECKER b. 1745, d. 1782 and Geertje TERWILLIGER. Besides Theunis, there were 8 other children. Unfortunately, the book does not follow the lines of the children. Cynthia then shows me the lineage from Joshua back to Jan Broerse (DECKER).
