Hi Diane (Eaton-Hacker), This is the most "encouraging" news I've received about this gent (my great great grandfather). Prior to 1855 - when he married at age 22, I have nothing. I'm waiting for pension papers to come - but am having problems with NARA over his file. Anyway, (my) Horace Decker, at 22 yrs was living in Hillsdale Co. MI when he married Lucretia Bailey in Oct 1855. From early census -- 1860 -- he indicated he was born in NY. Where were your Absalom and Sarah DECKER living when their children where born?
