    2. Jack, My ancestor, Jan DECKER was b. in Gelderland, Holland. However, before the war, Gelderland was in Germany. Later, the boundries changed. Maybe this was the case with your DECKER ancestor as well. I am in contact with many tourist from Holland and they tell me that DECKER is definately a very common DUTCH name. They have DECKERs there like we have Smith and Jones here.
