David --- Catherine M. Decker was born Dec. 19, 1830, in Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., New York, and was the daughter of Peter and Frinda/Frenda (last name unknown) Decker. Suspect Catherine was oldest or among oldest of their children for she had a sister, Rachel, born Oct. 10, 1851, 21 years Catherine's junior. Also, don't know to what extent Peter Decker and family had been "Americanized." The Foster family to which Catherine married was very English (Foster, Knapp, Smith and Boughton surnames) and had been in the colonies for many generations.
